Hi guys,

I have a question here: me as a beneficiary Canadian Permanent resident renewed my passport (from home country) because it expires on 27th of June 2018 - less than 6 months of time of POE.

The old one will remain with me. I am still waiting for NVC number.  And my question is should I fill DS-160 with my new passport number and notify Consulate for the renewal or should I first notify them and then prepare Packet 3? In other words: what should I do?

Fill in ds-160 with new passport.  The old one will be invalid once you get a new one.

Thanks but should I notify them when sending Packet 3 that I have renewed my passport or I should do it prior to sending it?

You can update them at interview if you've already done the ds-160 with the old passport.  If you did it with the new one you would only need the old one to show legal presence which is also done at interview.
