Its a private company. That being said, they will probably regret the negative press they are getting now. Also their website was attacked.

I understand, but what she did, she did in her private time. That's insane, that their website is attacked. Seems both are extreme.

Dissent? Not tolerated in America. Toe the line. The Supreme Leader commands blind obedience.

Seems kinda dictatorial.

The thing that got her is that she posted it on her social media like "look at me I'm in the news". So the company got bad press from it and fired her for cause. She says that she is going to fight it but I don't see how she can fight it.

Her Twitter account was not linked to her job right?

Weren’t there folks fired who were protesting in Charlottesville?  In my opinion, both this case and those cases were justified.  Freedom of Speech is only a limit for the government, not for private businesses.

Are you in a higher level position in a company? I  can pretty much tell by your posts that your not, because you would then understand that whatever you do on social media is pretty much a direct reflection of the company. Good or bad it is a direct reflection on the company.

Actions have consequences.

Employers today are looking at social media during the hiring process and constantly throughout employment.

Freedom of speech protects you from the gov't ... not the private sector.

When you work for someone you "ride for the brand". What you do ... how you act ... tells people about yourself and the brand you represent.

Don't want to garner the attention of HR for your off-hours escapades ... don't brag about it.

Actually I was, but I'm not working right now. So no and yes.

I'm not into social media even when I was working as a manager. But that doesn't matter, I know plenty high ranking managers who avoid social media to protect their privacy.

gee, i'd think a marketing specialist would know better than to do that, especially when working for a federal contractor...........
