I'm fairly new to this whole process and this website as its only been a few weeks since I sent in my I-130, but i'm curious as to when does the USCIS website usually update with latest processing inforomation? I thought it was at least once a month, but according to the latest post, its been since March 15th. Are they normally this slack? Also, they still haven't cashed my check and I its been exactly 2 weeks since they received my application via certified mail, so should I be worried already that my application is lost? I would think they would have at least cleared the check by now.

USCIS site updates indicate the oldest petition they have not finished. It's not an accurate representation their true processing times - it's their to cover the azzes so petitioners don't contact them until they have passed that posted date.

Better to look at timelines here to get an estimate.

K, thanks a lot for that info then, I noticed that on the USCIS website and looked at people's timelines, so it appears the average is about 3-4 months for a CR1 visa. Does anyone think it would be worth completing an I-129F for a K-3 visa if the CR1 is being approved so fast? I heard from one person that the K-3 can be approved as soon as 2-3 months, so if that would bring my wife here from Peru that much sooner, I think its worth it, but what are the financial advantages/disadvantages to doing a K-3? Thanks a lot you all for your help so far

It's cheaper to do the CR vs the K3, although it is longer. I chose the CR route b/c I didn't want to go through the headache of applying for AOS, which can be very costly. Go on the USCIS website to see what the current fees are for each form. Also remember the fees are all increasing as soon as this summer. Another reason why I chose the CR route so that we could start our new life together w/o worrying about immigration for a while. I figure it was hard enough for a foreigner to adjust to the US w/o those added immigration issues that can arrive.
