Just thought everyone would like an update from us as well. We are done with all the preliminary steps, and got her combo card. Just waiting patiently for our interview. Hope everyone hangs in there. As you can see pushing some things doesn’t help much.

Congrats! Did you expedited your case?

Hello everyone! For everyone having interviews, congrats! I have a few questions. I am a K1Visa applicant, married November, applied to adjust mid November.  My case tracker, like many here, still says case received/fingerprint fee recieved at the end of Nov. We did our fingerprints mid December. For those who are having interviews -

1) did your case tracker change and/or did you receive notice by mail or email?

2) What does this notice contain?

3) How do you schedule an interview, and does the notice contain information on what to prepare?

Any resources or advice would be so helpful. Thank you! Good luck to all.

1) did your case tracker change and/or did you receive notice by mail or email?

A: Yes, it did change and we received notice my mail. There is no notice by email. You only get a notification that the case has been updated, if you have signed up for email notifications.

2) What does this notice contain?

A: For interview we got a notice with the date, time and place of interview. The same notice had a list of documents that needs to be brought to the interview. Our case status updated 2 days after we received the notice in the mail. USCIS online case status is not very reliable

3) How do you schedule an interview, and does the notice contain information on what to prepare?

A: You don't schedule an interview, USCIS does that. You get a notice which tells you when and where is your interview. Unless your address has changed since you filed your application, your interview would be in the office where you appeared for bio-metrics (I am not sure what happens if your address has changed since you appeared for bio-metrics). The notice would have a detailed list of documents that needs to be brought to the interview .

We have our interview tomorrow, hopefully everything goes well.

Hang in there and hopefully you get your interview notice soon. Good Luck.

Just came back after my interview. Here is my experience:

My interview location was Lawrence, MA. We had to wait nearly an hour before being called in. (The officer said it was a good thing as our application was through and they anticipated it would be done sooner than others)

My wife was called in first and about 5-7 minutes later she asked me to come in. I was asked to take an oath and then I was seated. She joked all the way through my interview.

Questions she asked to my wife after checking her ID:

1) How did I come to the country?

2) Where she went to college and where did I go? (She did not know where I went to college as it was in India. She knew I did botany in my undergrad)

3) She was surprised as to why I chose botany in undergrad. My wife knew the answer to that

4) How long she has stayed in the current address and if we own or rent?

5) How much do we pay for rent?

6) How much do we pay for utilities?

7) She asked for proof of joint ownership? (We had rental agreement, Joint bank accounts, Joint insurance, Mortgage approval and PSA) This was the only document she kept

8) How do her parents feel about me?

9) Where did we get married and how many people attended our wedding? She asked if we had wedding photos and my wife showed it to her

She then explained my wife what is going to happen next when I would walk in.

I walked in and I was asked to take an oath. After oath she asked me to show an ID and my passport. Fingerprints and picture are a part standard process.

1) She asked me how did I come to the US?

2) How did we meet?

3) She opened my application (485) and verified the information with me

3) Have I ever stayed illegally in the US?

4) Details of family members back in my home country.

5) Details of her family members.

6) How does her parents feel about me?

7) Where do we live and how much is the "mortgage"? I corrected her and said rent. She laughed as she intentionally used the term mortgage.

8) She then asked the Yes/No questions. As soon as she asked the dangerous plant question, she asked me about my Botany degree and why I did that. Our answers matched.

Once she was done she said that she had a rough morning and we are the only approval so far by her today. She then told how after two years I need to file for removal of condition application. She also told me since we would be moving we would have to file an AR-11 form and we would have to go to a different USCIS office when we file I-751.

She joked all through the interview and then walked us out. All in all the whole interview process was completed in 15-20 minutes, not counting the wait time.

Good luck to all the others waiting for their interview.

For my interview in the Buffalo office, we arrived 10 mins early, and were called right on time at 2:30 pm.

We started joking with the interviewer right away. He led us to his office and we were out in less than 10 mins.

He first swore us in, and then he started going through our application form and confirming both of our DOB,  both of our SSN, and my parents DOBs.  Then he asked a few of the yes/no questions from the form as well.  Saw that we got married on Nov 1, asked where we got married and who attended. Then asked us how we met. THATS ALL.

He then stated that he spent a half hour reviewing our file (which is like a beige folder with my A# on it and looked pretty chunky) before he interviewed us and that since we are applying with K1, we've  done all the hard work already and my green card is approved and I should have it within 2 weeks time.

He literally did not want to see anything I brought on the interview notice of documents to bring with us , and only looked at the wedding photos after I basically urged him to..saying "you really dont want to see anything?!" lol.

He basically told us that he has been doing his job for 30+ years and knows how to tell a truthful relationship and all the hard work has already been done in this process so keep all the documents we gathered for when we apply to remove conditions from my green card.

Thats all :D

No update of status on case tracker since interview.

hi guys,

just wanted to share our experience and timeline:

sent (I-485 and I-765) - Nov 19th

NOA1 - Nov 27th

biometrics - Dec 26th

RFIE for  I-765 - Feb 15th ( it was abt my last name change, although we sent them a copy of our marriage certificate with I-765 form.)

RFIE  I-765 response sent  -  Feb 21st

RFIE   I-765 response received -  Feb 27th

approved  I-765 - March 13th

I-765 card received  by mail   - March 17th

I-485

NOA1 - Nov 27th

biometrics - Dec 26th

.....no updates about AOS fo far (our USCIS office is Memphis TN - they are not the fastest :))

The RFIE for I-765 letter said "provide with a copy of your passport, national ID, any other ID to prove the last name change"....As I don't have a driving licence and State ID yet, we just sent them copies of our marriage certificate (once again!), a copy of my Ukrainian passport with K1 visa, SSN letter and a letter from our bank with my new last name on it.

I'm so happy it satisfied them and today I've got my EAD card!

Good luck for everyone who is still waiting! stay strong and hopeful!
