Depends which version of the EAD form you filed.  The new version has a SS number request built into it, the older one doesn't.  They recently switched to the new one.  So if you filed the old form and didn't request a SSN, then you'll need to do it through the SS Office.  Look at your records and look at which version you filed.  You will know, it specifically asks if you would like a SSN generated with your application.  Your application may still be under the old system if this is all confusing you.

Thanks. I paid someone to do my application and i guess she did with that version you mentioned but i’ll double check forms.

It took 98 days, but I finally received 4 text messages and an email update this morning that the EAD card is now in card/document production. I had submitted a service request online after 75 days and by phone after 90 days, both inquiries have NOT been assigned for processing.

Hi guys! My timeline is: sent 11/15, received 11/17, NOA1 11/22, bio 12/21, first service request 1/31, 2nd SR 2/15. I went in for my Infopass appointment this morning (Boston local office) to inquire about the status of my case and about my two SRs with "currently not assigned for processing".

The women told me that a SR means that an officer will pull out your case form the line to check what is the status/if there is something wrong with your case. Then they put it back at the bottom of the pile. Which means that just like RFEs, it will delay your case. Moreover, even though you have 2 or 3 SRs, they deal with them one by one. So you case will be pull out of the line a first time, put back at the bottom of the line twice or three times. I was heart broken when she told me that because I don't want to have waited >3 months already for nothing. She did say though that if your SRs are "not currently assigned" it means your case is still in the line. So if I am lucky, my case will be adjudicated before it is pulled out for the service requests.

I wish the USCIS officers on the phone had told me that SRs delay cases when putting in my SRs. Had I known, I would have said no when they offered to put in my SRs.

So if you are just being impatient (like I was 😔) but don't think there is an actual issue with your case, reconsider doing SRs. This way you don't delay your approval.

Hope this helps those of you who were considering doing SRs :)

Online: look up e-request on USCIS site and select case outside normal processing time.

Phone: call the contact number on the NOA1 and refer to your receipt number.

Note both of these requests did not seem to have any impact on the processing time of my case, but I understand the need to try something...

I literally checked this morning and the congressman was going to get involved as of today per a previous conversation, sent her the email to get involved and she said to maybe wait for another week or so. I check the case status once more and EAD says "New Card Being Produced"! We are very excited.

I called today and submitted SR upon the officer proposal to do so as my case is out of processing time. I asked if this will delay my case in any way

He said no not at all. Well lets pray it won't.

My both cases were open aos and ead, not denied or aproved so he said as of today I should receive written reply to my SR within 15-30 days.

Did I make a mistake by raising this SR? I do not know, maybe I did. But I can't just sit and wait :(

This way I feel like I tried to do something to speed stuff up.

Just an update, my husband had recieved his ead/ap combo card.  As his birthday was Feb 24th I decided to surprise him with tickets back to dr to visit his daughter back home with AP. Well after speaking to 5 docent lawyers and doing significant res, I even went as far as to call and speak directly to customs and other agencies at the port of entry,  half of these people we contacted said it was not advised ti travel with AP as reentry is not always gauranteed. I feel so sad for my husband because we were both so excited when he received the combo card but at this point he feels like eveno if he left before the GC interview he would spend the whole trip nervous about whether he would have problems coming back.  I'm just so upset why would they give a document to travel without the gauranteed reentry? A lot of people told us he wouldn't have any problems coming back since he arrived in the country legally and doesn't have any arrest records or anything.  But it's not even a risk we want to take so we cancelled the tickets until after the interview.  Which we still aremember stuck on "fingerprint fee recieved" smh

Has anyone traveled or plan to travel with their combo card?

I already posted about this earlier, but my husband is stranded in D.R. now because his wallet was stolen with his AP/EAD.  The embassy can do nothing, and airline says sorry you can't board without original card.  Apparently, only option is for me to apply for replacement AP (and pay full price for it, $575) which will likely take several weeks at minimum, if we request expedited processing.  Wallets are lost and stolen all the time, I can't believe there is no recourse, but I've spent nearly all week on the phone with various agencies trying to find a way to get him home.  Given that it's impossible to come home if your card is lost or stolen, I strongly advise against travel.  Embassy can provide help with lost passports and lost green cards, but they can't do anything with EAD/AP!
