Just cam back from my biometrics appointment (online filer).

I received a text as soon as she scanned my appointment letter (phone was in the car, but obviously it has the timestamp).

My status updated to:

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

Receipt Number: IOEXXXXXXXXX

Application Type: N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION

Your Case Status: Initial Review

As of November 20, 2017, we are actively reviewing your Form N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, Receipt Number IOEXXXXXXXXX. Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time. We will let you know if we need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

Anybody here still has  I-751 pending while applying for N400? How would that affect N400?

I do.

From what I've been reading, you get a double interview on the same day (most had the I-751 first, followed by the N-400, but I've also read of the opposite happening).

My ultimate goal is citizenship, so I figured, since it is allowed by USCIS policy, to simply get in line ASAP.

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

Thanks for the update. Did the ECD change or is it still the same?

Just give it a try.. go and don't say anything.. they are going to look at your hands and if they consider there is something wrong with it, they will tell you right away...

When I went for my fingerprints they made me use just one hand one time, that was it... I guess because they did take my fingerprints in the past and it was pretty detailed finger by finger when I was applying for GC

Thank you so much :)

Just came back from the appointment, did not say anything, let them do their work and it went absolutely fine. yay!!

Hi! I am a November filer as well, just filled online last Saturday, and I didn't get anything until earlier today. It  appears as a receipt notice with this information:

"Thank you for submitting your application, petition, or request. Our office is currently processing it. Please verify your personal information listed above. If you need to make any changes, immediately notify the USCIS National Customer Service Center (NCSC) using the phone number below. Next Steps: • We will schedule you for an appointment at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for you to provide your fingerprints, photograph and/or signature. • We will mail you a separate biometrics appointment notice with the specific date, time, and ASC location. Please wait until you receive your appointment notice before going to the ASC. Be advised that this notice does NOT serve as notification of your biometrics appointment. If you have any questions or comments regarding this notice or the status of your case, please contact the NCSC toll free at 1-800-375-5283. If you are hearing impaired, please call the NCSC TDD at 1-800-767-1833. If you have questions about immigration benefits, services, filing information, or forms, please visit our website at www.uscis.gov or call the NCSC. If your mailing address changes while your case is pending, please update it through your USCIS Online Account or by calling the NCSC. You will be notified separately about any other application, petition, or request you may have filed with us. Please note that if a priority date appears on this notice, it does not reflect any earlier retained priority dates."

Is it my NOA1?  I read here that the biometrics letter should be next, right? And my estimated case completion time is January 2019 (14 months).

We qualify for Citizenship under the 3 year rule. I noticed that when filling the online N-400 it forces you to use 5 years of data. Was this true for everyone?

For me, yes. It looks like they don't crop the data gathering to 3 years when you are filling online. Hopefully they will fix it for future generations eventually.

I  just treated everything as if I were filing on paper with three year rule. It does ask you at the beginning, but it doesn't translate into questions being adapted to 3 year rule.

Ultimately, the reviewing officer will know.
