Hey everyone,

 

Just wanted to update you on my situation.

 

Took the Oath of Allegiance yesterday and became a US citizen (with 156 fellow new US citizens from 41 countries). Also got my passport right away at the Miami Passport Agency as I'm traveling internationally tomorrow (I actually had a flight yesterday afternoon but the passport was not issued in time for that), and registered to vote online.

 

The funny thing I wanted to share is that as soon as I left the passport office, I also received an unrelated text message that my permanent green card was mailed to me. So the timeline from approval to mailed was less than 3 weeks (April 24 / May 11). This is for all of you that have not applied for citizenship but were approved for the ROC and have not received your card. Things seem to be moving.

It's incredible how we have "almost" the same starting date for the I-129F (I started on 8-13-13, and you started on 8-14-13!), and the very same date for the end of the process with the oath ceremony!

Hi Nikkosan. Yes, we did this within one day of each other. It has been a long, expensive process, but it was well worth it. I wish you success as a new citizen. My husband can't wait to vote in November. We will apply for his passport at our local post office on Monday. And all this would not have been possible without the Supreme Courts approval of same-sex marriage. We chose to be married in Iowa by our nephew, instead of out home state of Arkansas. Thank you for all your support . Wishing you and yours a wonderful life.

Our journey is finally complete. It took a grand total of 1,370 days from the beginning of the K1 Visa to the Oath of Citizenship. It was a LONG and tedious process, but well worth the time and expenses involved. We would like to wish everyone much success on their journeys. Yes, The American Dream IS possible! Our sincere thanks to everyone on Visa Journey that helped and supported us throughout this process. It saved us thousands in legal fees by doing it ourself.

did you apply for the us passport and got it right away? how come?

Don't forget to update your info with the social security administration at least 10 days after the oath. 

It may be a good idea to inform any financial institutions you deal with too.

Back in the old continent now, already basking in the glory of coming back through Customs as a US citizen! No more paper to show for proof of my relationship, etc. etc... It'll take a while getting used to it...!

I have been following this thread and i wanted to give status on my N400 and I751 case so far

 

I 751 filed January 2017

May 7 2018 -Case transferred to Local office

N400 filed November 20 2017 - Dallas Lockbox

local office Newark, NJ

NOA - November 21  2017

Biometric - December 14 2017

Interview scheduled - May 8 2018

Interview Letter received - May 14 2018
