N-400 November 2017 Filers

I have a question, I checked my account and saw that I got the first status which is "We Approved your application" then the second one is "You attended your interview". on the other system where you insert case number it says "We placed you in line for oath ceremony". I sent them a message online and they responded that the last status for your case is You attended your interview and if you are quit approved then you will be placed for oath.

 

Which one should I believe? does it mean I am approved or not? why would I get approved then attended your interview? does that mean they changed their mind??

Just came from my interview and thankfully was handed over the white paper with approval on it. What a relief! 

 

The interview process was very smooth. The interviewer made me feel very relaxed from the beginning. Made me raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth. Then he sat me down, took my fingerprints and asked the civic questions. He had a paper in front of him with 10 questions. He asked me the first 6 to which all the answers were correct and he passed me on that. Then i guess he opened up my application on his computer and just confirmed everything that I had already filled out. Asked all the Yes/No questions at the end of the application. He then told me to sign on some changes he made during the review and a statement saying that I agree to take the oath of allegiance.

 

And.... Thats it! I was done. He said that the oath will be scheduled anytime between 30-60 days. I asked the interviewer if there was an option of same day oath or something and he said they dont have anything like that.

don't forget the following.

 

1. Arrive 30 Minutes early

2. Be well dressed ( no jeans, sandals,...etc)

3. Prepare to return your green card as you will no longer need it.

4. Have the questions in the back of the notice  N-455  answered as you may be requested to provide them.

 

5.  Receive Certificate of Naturalization

Carefully review your Certificate of Naturalization and notify USCIS of any errors before leaving the ceremony. You may use your Certificate of Naturalization as official proof that you are a U.S. citizen.

If you lose your Certificate of Naturalization, you may request a replacement by filing Form N-565, Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document. You may request Form N-565 by calling the USCIS Forms Line (1-800-870-3676) or by downloading the form. The fee to file this form is $555.

Once you become a U.S. citizen, you can do the following:

Apply for a U.S. Passport/Passport Card

We strongly recommend that you apply for a U.S. passport through the U.S. Department of State soon after you take the Oath of Allegiance. Please allow sufficient time between your naturalization ceremony and any planned travel to receive your passport.

• In addition to your Certificate of Naturalization, a U.S. passport serves as official proof of citizenship.
• You will get an application for a U.S. passport at your naturalization ceremony in the U.S. Citizenship Welcome Packet. It is also available at most U.S. Post Offices or via the web at http://travel.state.gov. 

You will need to submit your original certificate of naturalization or citizenship AND a photocopy when applying for your U.S. passport. USCIS does not prohibit photocopies of certificates when providing proof of U.S. citizenship to the Department of State.

Register to Vote

Voting in federal elections is both a right and a responsibility that comes with U.S. citizenship. After you take the Oath of Allegiance at an administrative ceremony, you will have the opportunity to register to vote. At administrative naturalization ceremonies, forms may be distributed by a state or local government election office, a non-governmental organization, or a USCIS official. If a non-governmental organization assists you in registering to vote at a USCIS naturalization ceremony, that organization may collect and submit your form to the appropriate Election Official, but it is not permitted to retain any of your personal information. Please notify your local USCIS office if you believe that an organization has retained and used your personal information after assisting you with a voter registration application at a USCIS naturalization ceremony.   

You may register to vote at other locations in your community, which may include post offices, motor vehicle offices, county boards of election, and offices of your state Secretary of State.  For more information, please see “A Voter’s Guide to Federal Elections."

Update your Social Security Record

After your naturalization ceremony, you should update your Social Security record at a local office of the Social Security Administration (SSA). Please wait at least ten days after your ceremony before going to the SSA to ensure that data reflecting your naturalization has been updated. You will need your Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. passport when you visit the SSA to update your record. To find your local Social Security office, call 1-800-772-1213 or visit www.socialsecurity.gov.

That's exactly like mine. Today I got an update that they mail my oath letter already. So, hopefully you'll get yours soon too.

 

10/23/2017- sent to Phoenix, AZ lockbox via USPS
10/26/2017- NOA 1 with IOExxxx receipt number
10/28/2017- Biometric scheduled (online status)
11/16/2017- Biometric done at ASC
01/10/2018- online status updated - Interview has been scheduled
02/14/2018- Interview (passed) but decision cannot be made because of pending ROC. Officer has to review it first before he will approved my n400. 
02/20/2018- online status updated- We placed you in line for youth ceremony and will send you a notice. .......

I file under the 3 years rule.

Just got this in an email . When I check the account, it shows no new information. Guess it may take a day or two for it to show up.

OK, the update said that On March 2, 2018, we scheduled you for an interview for your Form N-400. Now we have to wait for the letter to arrive to see what the date is. Progress!

Thank you. Hopefully all us November filers will see progress soon. I am very curious to see the date as our office in Fort Smith, Arkansas is still showing 16 months to completion. It was 19 months when we filed. I will update the list when we receive the actual letter with the date.

I don't think their estimation is correct. When I submitted mine back in October 2017 it says estimated completion time was Dec 2018 but today they mail me an Oath letter already. I'm in Denver by the way.

Thank you. I am so excited. Finally the Visa, Green Card and citizenship thing will be over soon for all of us.
