So does the letter indicate how the 18-month period is counted? I think a friend mentioned it was from the date of expiration of his I-551 stamp. My conditional GC expired in 2/18 and I have a 551-stamp valid until 1/2019. So does the 18-month extension count from 2/18 or from 1/19 (in which case I should not need another I-551 until 7/2020) ??

18 months counted from the expiration of your green card . If your GC expired on 2/18 so you add 6 months to that which extend it till 8/18 (more less) so it would be already expired then.  but as you have a 551-stamp you are good to go to 1-19 .

Good luck

@Younes-Maria...I think the extension would be valid until 8/19 in my case, right ? 18 months from the date my conditional GC expired which was 2/18.

Correct !! Sorry missread the dates

Best of luck

Hi guys,

I filed for the ROC in November too, and my conditional green card has been expired for a while. Have done biometrics and now just waiting. I don’t have anything else that I see some people talking about. Stamp etc? What is that for? Should I have filed for something else?

I have a valid drivers license which is how I’ve been getting around using it as my ID. And I also have the uscis letter accepting my ROC application and starting the process. Is that enough? Should I have applied for anything else?

thanks :)

You don't have to apply for the stamp--you can make an Infopass appointment if you really need one. But you should be getting an extension letter soon, like the rest of the folks in this thread.

Mine arrived last week and I filed in mid-November.

I have submited my I-751 waiver in November. I recieved my final divorce papers three weeks later. The marriage was in good faith and I have submitted 100 pages of proof. The former marriage also existed prior to the US marriage, as a civil partnership in Germany.  I am still waiting for my RFE to send in my final divorce degree. yesterday. Now, I recieved the second I-797 Notice of action for the 18 month extension of the conditional green card.

On this notification it says and I quote:
"If you have not already done so, provide supporting documentation to help USCIS process your petition and to establish your eligibility to remove the conditions on your permanent residence. Please include a copy of this receipt notice witn any supporting documents you submit"

Based on this sentence, can I send my final dicorce documentation without the RFE and add it to my case. Proactive if you want?

Danke 😉 . It would be try to avoid the RFE, but I guess the Service center would be unable to unite the documents and would RFE me anyway :-)
