Wish for not so long. On average, how many months is the waiting period till you hear back from them ? And my understanding i will be eligible for the citizenship by November 2018, should i apply for it ? or wait till i hear back about my Permanent GC ? And i wonder if anybody has had any troubles travelling abroad on extension letter or stamp or their passports ? Any weird scary experiences just to learn from their mistakes and be cautious if its not worth it to travel ?

It seems to depend which service center - Vermont is around 12 months and California is around 16 months.  You can apply for citizenship when you become eligible for it, usually the I-751 and Citizenship are adjudicated at the same time in that instance.

I believe there are a few posts throughout the forum about experiences travelling with the extension letter, might be worthwhile searching through and having a read :)

Hi guys, is there anyone who has not received an extension letter like myself. How soon do they mail it? My GC expired in December and I had my biometrics in same month. Do you have to request for it or they just send it?

That should’ve been the second letter they send you. Even before the biometrics. I got it like 2-3 weeks after I filed !

I’m talking about The extension letter.

your NOA letter IS the extension.  Look below where it notes what you paid and you should see this

"Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year from the expiration date on your conditional resident card."

From what I've been reading on here, it seems it will expedite the process of having the ROC approved at the time you apply for N400, I plan on filing N400 within the 3 month window prior to my 3 year LPR anniversary date, I know it's more money, but it's something that I would eventually do anyway.  You never know, they may hire more employees and things might start moving faster, but as of right now its quicker to move the process of I-751 with submitting N400.  I am trying if at all possible to avoid having to do the whole I-551 passport stamp and obtain an extension on top of the current one year extension.   Does anyone carry the paper on their person that shows the one year extension?

Happy President's day holiday weekend guys!

So I called again. They just say there's a slow down in the CSC. But what I don't get is how did everyone else who applied here to CSC, and everyone in December, get their biometrics?

but I also see you are filing from Chicago, I wonder if that's also a reason. Maybe Chicago is slow?

Yes, I made a copy of the original and carry that with me.  My drivers lic says "US non-citizen" and I have discovered that local officials don't know immigration categories/timelines so I carry my Green Card with me at all times, and now have a copy of the letter with me, just in case.

There is a handful of December 2017 ROC filers that are still waiting for biometrics.  We are still waiting to hear from our service request.  We didn't bother speaking to a tier two person yet, though.  No benefit in getting the biometrics done faster for the ROC.
