These questions are about medical examination at the IOM Migration Health Unit in Kyiv, Ukraine.

  • Will they accept vaccination chart photocopy, or does it have to be an original with “wet” seal?
  • Will they consider fluorography results recently done by another clinic in Ukraine?
  • Is it wise/easy/possible to schedule the medical appointment the day before consulate interview? What is your recommendation on timing?
  • Any other Kyiv/Ukraine specific tips?

Thank you.

I wouldn't hope they will accept copies. It should be the original.

also, there is a medical instruction from US embassy in Ukraine website. Maybe you will find the answers there.

From our experience, they required a wet seal.

They will not consider Fluoroscopy/X-ray/CT Scan from another clinic.

Not wise to schedule the medical appointment day before interview.

Recommend you get medical done as soon as feasible.  We did it a few weeks prior to spousal visa interview.  Turned out spots on X-ray resulting in sputum testing for TB and over a 2 month delay in visa issuance.

What is your major concern?

Vaccinations - "wet" seal, but you should make a copy for yourself, just in case.

X-Ray will be done at the IOM Facility anyway, and only that result will be accepted.

It used to be you receive your K1/K2 medical results at the same day, bit it's not like that anymore - now it's the next day pick-up.

So, as gregcrs2 mentioned, you should have your medical results FIRST, and if everything is fine, then go ahead and schedule your interview.

Also, you should make sure, form DS-3025 has been given to you after medical exam - the form will be needed to file AOS/I-485/green card application after arrival to the US and marriage.

Good luck!! ;)

Thank you.

If the medical results are not ready before the interview, would it be possible to have the consulate hold the passport and issue the visa once the results get there?

The concern: we live far away from Kyiv, and the beneficially still works. Getting time off-work is tough. It would be much easier if we could accomplish both medical and consulate in the same short trip.

I see...

They do  medical exam from 9.00 a.m. till 3.00 p.m. - you can be done by noon, but you never know how many people are there and how long it's gonna take, so no interview appointment for that day anyway.

Besides,  the instruction clearly states you can schedule your interview only after you obtained ALL documents that apply to your case (medical result  apply) and after steps 1-3 completed (step #3 is medical exam).

https://ua.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/how-to-apply/

Also, I'm not sure IOM delivers results to the Embassy in case if someone can not pick it up...

Try to contact IOM Facility in Kiev to figure out what time they usually open for medical results pick-up. And go from there.

You should also keep in mind  possible delays, jam traffic and etc - give it at least 2-3 hours between possibly available pick-up and an interview appointment.

But again, even In the best scenario you could be done within 2 days:  day #1 -  for your medical, day #2 -   interview (assuming that pick-up is possible in the morning). But not any faster... and it's so risky.. Lets pray everything will be fine with your medical!

It used to be the same day pick up for your medical but not anymore. I've done my medical in Oct and it's the next day pick up (14:00-15:00). So the best way for you to go is schedule your medical 2 days prior to the interview date. But as Ksenia_O  suggested you should contact the IOM Facility to see if they can hand you the results on the day your medical is.

If the embassy approves he visa, and medical results are not available, the embassy will hold the passport and then issue the visa after they receive medical results.
