Well if you leave a forum to only 1 months filers the information and experiences doesn't flow. So basically you would get no info from previous filers.

but I'd advice to check timelines. Most people here (and if not please everyone do it) would fill their timelines :)

Ah yeah, good idea. Thanks for clarifying!

Also if you're the curious type, always check the currently active months for info ;) they are usually the ones with the most info flying around, right now that would be june and july!

and goood luck to all of us in the end! We all just want one thing :D

If you examine the dates on the tracker for K-1 Visas, the wait time from the receive date to NO2 is quite consistent at 5 to 6 months on average..  It's not erratic and that's a good thing.

There has been all kinds of theories as to why the length of time has increased compared to 2016,  so allow me to offer a theory of my own, If there was a staff shortage or backlog, one would think the length of time would be gradually increasing,  incoming petitions would have a snowball effect, this doesn't appear to be happening,  the most logical reason appears to be increased vetting of petitions, IMO.

It is increasing... it was under 3 months in January, got to 150 days by April and it spread through 2-3 months. 160+ days for May, june started slowly on day 168 and still didn't finish at day 220s people are waiting, half of that month is still waiting. July started on day 190 for the shortest.

There is backlog log caused by the increase in naturalization applications (and h1bs and daca) because everyone is scared. This affect is known as a normal thing at the years of election. However immigration researchers all say normally it stops, but most long term residents are scared that they may get deported and hence applying for naturalization (also because applying for it now is online and easy) all this is out there as news and also the numbers by uscis, scrutiny as you said and vetting is another known cause and that the administration wants more rfes (there are more rfes than previous years this is also out in uscis reports)

there were actually less k1 applications this year than last year and there were many rejected (mistake ones) even with that the amount they processed and approved is way less than previous years (also in the reports.

I'm looking at the tracker you link to, if you look at the filings from April to October, May to November and June to December,  the time periods are consistently 6 months on average, some are shorter.. I agree the waiting period has increased from early last year and the year prior, but it appears to have hit a plateau.

Even though I also think 6 months seemed like the real average the worst case scenario. The problem is july filers already hit a 190 days without anything. So they are past that place. But my honest thoughts are it won't go over an average of 7 months.

if we check vj in the past years (back when the big backlog happened and Texas cases moved to California) the average was an easy 240-50 days for a while. So I only hope they will catch it this time before that happens again.

but that file only has NVC level which is, only the approved petitions. Numbers of not yet touched are too many considering they started June 2 months ago.

however as I always say, it's not like I want times to go further, I'm always up for thinking the most realistic yet positive outcome, and will continue to think that as it will recover slightly and as you said 5-6 months average will be back. Because that's what we estimated before too, but july start being this late ruined those calculations.

@nykolos

i hope that didn't sound too weird btw. I wasn't trying to be offensive. It's just after watching every single approval and wait since end of September, seeing this trendline getting worse and worse and analyzing while waiting and finding ways that can recover kind of made me bitter (especially today) I actually like that someone said something positive today!! Thank you...

Don't get down Naes. Know that you are the little ray of light for so many people here that eagerly await your reports. You are the lifeline of the K-1 waiters right now.

I saw an article posted last night that they are moving some applications to Texas, relieving California. Hopefully that will help speed it back up again.

I'll be ok :) there are some days... it's just they don't update! I just need the updates so I can say for certain here they are getting better or worse....

I am hoping for that though july is the perfect month to catch up because they have less amount than any other month.

and I also don't believe they will let 7 months become their new average. I'm sure they will make it go down again soon....

I think there's still a long way to go. It's only mid Jan. For most Nov filers, looks like there will be 4 months (or even longer) to get NOA2.

Just stay calm and be patient. Don't expect too much and just assume the average time will be the same or even increasing. Let's set the expectation low as there's nothing we could do to help them speed up. It's totally out of our control. But I do really appreciate the reports and charts shared by you guys. (I am not good at collecting the information. Maybe I could also play around with the data later as well.)

Maybe find something to distract ourselves a bit?? (Although I know it's a bit hard as I am also checking the timeline everyday.)

For me, the most difficult part is that we could do nothing for now. Feels like no progress at all.

So I guess maybe I can spend some time to browse what places I can go for a short trip with my boyfriend while waiting for NOA2.

Or maybe decide on what style of wedding photos I would like to take and go to gym more frequently to fit into a wonderful gown.

Or maybe take a look in the job market see what are the top skills required in my career path as I do feel every city or country varies in terms of hiring needs. (Or maybe even start to network on LinkedIn with someone in the dream companies.)

These are the things I am going to do during the period. Maybe you guys have some other good suggestions??

It must have flipped in the last 2 months then, my application was sent to the Texas center and then moved to California.

That's another thing that confuses everyone. Your application was sent to Dallas lock box (not the center) and went to California directly.

Texas doesn't do k1 visas anymore other than some rare cases that get transferred from California. All k1 goes to cali and some background checks (criminal background etc.) causes them to be transferred to Vermont or other places.
