Y’all, with all the updates we’re reminded it’s a long road ahead but hang in there. ^_^

My fiancé and I were going to wait until visa-in-hand to see each other next, but a few emotional meltdowns later we decided sooner is better . Now he is going to visit me in the States in February! Anyone planning on the benefactor visiting while visa is pending?

P.S. I know there are already conflicting opinions (I.e. some say you’ll get denied at POE, others say it’s no issue etc.).

Is he going to visit during valentine's day? 😍

Not specifically for Valentine’s Day—for my birthday—but he will be here for both!

I've visited twice whilst the visa has been pending and not had any problems and I'm going again on sat I've never been asked any questions.

If you get denied it will not affect your visa.

Jist be honest if questions are asked and have proof you intent to leave the US and return to your home country

Anyone had experience traveling to see their fiance in the UK? I have heard some horror stories about the border force flagging American women with a significant other in the country. I'm planning to go for 3 weeks for the holidays and i do have a return ticket. I'm taking a bank statement, pay stubs, and a military benefits paper (shows i receive housing money from the military since i'm using the GI bill) I'm also taking my college schedule for next semester so they see i'm enrolled and a student. I will also have my student ID with me. It might seem a little over the top, but with what I heard I think i'm just going to be prepared for anything.

My fiance is military and he came to visit me in august for my brothers wedding...you will have no issues at all jut make sure you have your leave paperwork on you they may ask you for it and you have to produce it.

I’m on my way stateside Thursday morning (I’m the Canadian alien👽). First trip over since engaged and since our application went in.

I’ve got my NOA1 receipt, a letter from my employer stating how long I’ve worked at my current job, my dates of leave, and that I will be scheduled to work upon my return, paystubs, a current statement from my provincial medical, a bank statement, my itinerary (return ticket), my apartment lease and my tax returns from last year.

I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Pray for me!

I've been Visiting my James since he left in August almost every months ( Sept, Oct, Nov ) but not Dec though.

I never had problem with the border, the only thing the officer asked was " how long you gonna stay here " and last time officer asked me " this time how long you gonna stay in your country until you fly back to the State " I answered Unknown. maybe in January I am flying back.

he stamped my passport and that's it.

none ever want to see any evidence that I will go back to my home country either.

but anyway, good luck guys. :)

To those of you are thinking of visiting the US on the Visa Waiver Program, a good idea is to check how many months in the past twelve you have spent in the US. If it's six or more, you may get some hassle at the border. I am not saying that this is the test they use, nor am I claiming that I have any insider info whatsoever, this is just my experience of the questions sometimes asked and the correlation with hassle getting admitted. I overheard a guy from Germany get told he wasn't allowed in because he spent seven out of the past twelve months in the US - he got taken back to the plane. And I saw someone - I think from the UK - get detained and eventually let in because they had spent six out of the past twelve in the US.

For documents, I'd always carry more information than is necessary. Priority seems to be return flight, proof of any employment or schooling in your home country, a bank statement or pay stubs, alternative ID, and whatever else proves what you're up to in life!

Good luck everyone :)

Unfortunately I do not have leave papers because I am no longer on active duty. I am a US military Veteran so I use my benefits to go to college from the Military. I wish I had some orders that would be handy.

Oh sorry I miss read your post. In that case I can't help much other than my fiancé got through without any questions asked.

I made it through immigration folks armed with everything above, lol.

Did I need it? No.

BP ”Where you going?”

Me: “I’m connecting to Atlanta”

BP: “Why are you going there?”

Me: “ To visit my fiancé and his family for Christmas”

BP: “Oh? What does he do in Atlanta?”

Me: “ Actually he lives yada yada and works at yada yada”

BP: “For how long?”

Me: “I fly back on yada yada”

(Long Pause)

BP (smirks): “How come you don’t live with him?”

Me (smirks back but I don’t know what to say)

BP: “Not yet right?”

Me: “Exactly, not yet”

BP: “Have a good day.”

Didn’t need an ounce of evidence/ties.

Stressed for nothing. Lol.
