The K visa is not considered an immigrant visa, and vaccinations are not required at the time of the visa, only at the time of Adjustment of Status, however, it is generally more convenient to get the record as part of the DS-3025 during the medical exam anyway.

While the consular officer may encourage compliance, the consular officer cannot deny a K or V visa for lack of compliance with the vaccination requirements.

After much research and review of items contained within your post, I stand corrected. Thank you for sharing your insight and knowledge.

A little foresight and experience once you are in the states and are beginning to prepare your AOS package for submittal follows. My wife had all her immunizations done in her home country prior to immigrating to the USA. Once we were married and completing the AOS package and at the time we need the DS-3025 converted to the I-693. We called around to a number of Panel physicians to determine when it could be done and what the prices were. Well to our surprise we got all kinds different answers. Some said we needed a complete examination cost $475.00. Others said we needed vaccinations $75 to $250 depending on which ones and how many. All we needed was to have the DS-3025 converted to the I 693. Basically a "cut and paste" operation with a review to insure we had everything. He said she required the flu vaccination as she was within the window of the flu shot requirement. The Doctor didn't have the vaccine for the flu shot and said that my wife just needed to stop at a pharmacy and get the shot and return with the confirmation and he would complete the paperwork. Over all the Panel Physician copied over the DS-3025 to the I-693, included the entry for the completed flu shot and charged her $75.00 total. So moral of the story is that it pays to shop around for a Panel Physician that fits your budget.

If you get all the shots completed in your home country prior to moving to the US then you do not need a Panel Physician to complete your AOS. Now all you need to do include your DS-3025 with the AOS package as evidence that you have completed your required vaccinations.*

What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or as a

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

1. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination, and the medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition, or if you did have a Class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility and have complied with the terms and conditions on the waiver.

*From the I-693 instructions page 4, Section III. 2, c, 2

Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you are required to submit the vaccination record and page 1 of Form I-693.

Do you need an I-693 immunization sheet? Is my DS-3025 filled out properly?

Look at your DS-3025. If it has the ALL of the following items, you don't need an I-693 (Adults 19-49 yrs. old).

1. Shots marked with a date (at least one of a series)

MMR (two are required but if you have "insufficient time interval" checked, then you get a waiver)

Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One no longer than 10 years ago, i.e.. have a booster)

Varicella or VH written by it if you had chickenpox

Influenza (during flu season)** see note below because you are most likely okay without it.

2. Everything else marked not age appropriate,  insufficient time interval, not flu season...things that allow a waiver.

3. RESULTS section filled in with "incomplete" and "may be eligible for blanket waiver" ticked or "complete" (but complete is rare).

4. Signed and dated by the doctor

If it's not completed EXACTLY like that then see a civil surgeon for the I-693. If it is complete, send a photocopy of your DS-3025. Almost isn't good enough. It needs to be filled out properly.

Really helpful, thank you! Looking forward to get into the process myself! Waiting on NOA2... I suspect we'll hear an answer next week.  You and all the other veterans of the forum have been really helpful to me and I'm just trying to pass on tidbits I've learned.

The Case Inquiry Date is now October 30th. I suspect tomorrow it will change to the 31st, and on Wednesday November 1st. It's almost time some of us can start submitting official inquiries.

I'm taking a positive approach that we're going to see a ton of approvals this next week, and the first week in June.

Hang in there, the wait is almost over!

I really hope you are right.

Now that this is being discussed I have a question or two....

I have read on threads here that it is important to ask your Panel Physician for a copy of your "medical" for future use. It doesnt go into specifics as to what "medical" refers to. I am almost sure that they are referring to only the DS3025 (Vaccinations Record) and the XRay and not the complete medical package that you will be bringing to the interview, correct?

I have also read that if your Panel Physician will not give you a copy of the "medical", you should look for another one who will.

What do you think is being referred to here? Just making sure you get a copy of the DS3025(Vacc Record)/Xray?

My Panel Physician will only offer a copy of the DS3025/Xray, not the whole "medical".

Can anyone elaborate what other items from your "medical" would be required other than those to Adjust Status?

I'm not sure I am following your questioning but I am going to paint a picture and maybe it's what you are looking for.

First - At your medical in your country prior to your interview the only thing you should expect to receive (that is if you medical facility does this and most do) is the Xray's (usually on a DVD). That's it.

Second - When you get to your POE the immigration officer is going to open your plastic envelope and hand you the DS-3025 that's what is used for your AOS. Now that's it. Nothing else is given to you. Zilch. Nada.

Third - If you have determined that you need a Civil Surgeon in the US to finish your medical portion which is a rare feat in to itself, you will get the DS-3025 back with I-693 completed to submit with your AOS package. Now 99.999999% of the people who immigrate don't need to see a Civil Surgeon under "todays" standards. If you go beyond ONE year of your medical in your country then you will have to see a CS to complete not only the medical but vaccinations if required at that time.  So I wouldn't even think about this being an issue for you once you arrive in the States.

Forth - Medical records are not needed for anything else except AOS and I outlined those circumstances above.

I hope this clarifies what information you wanted more of.

There's someone from September thread here that also has not heard anything. It's important to stay on top of your case and as soon as the case inquiry date passes, have your congressman inquire for you.

Yes, totally clarifies.

My Panel Physician states that he will not give you a copy of the all of the documents inside of the medical package but only a copy of the Vaccination record and the Xray on a disc.

I read here on a thread that you needed to see a PP that WOULD give you a copy of the "medical" but it wasn't clear on what you would be asking for (ie the entire medical package or just the VR and XRay). Thus I was confused what I should be seeking at the Medical appt for future use.

Now I understand what I'll need for AOS, medical wise.

Thank you for your clarification once again!
