Good Morning All. I have been reeling from the overwhelm of being approved May 24th!

NOA1- November 10 (old site), November 14 (new site)

I received no email or notification, I just happened to check the old app, and almost had a heart attack. The old site said approved May 24th, and then I received an email the next morning (May 25th) when the new site was updated.

USPS Informed Delivery shows the letter is in the mail today! I have been so emotional because I began to lose faith that my fiancee would miss my entire pregnancy and the thought scared me.

An earnest good luck to every one waiting, I wish you all the very best!

Congratulations!! We have the same dates. I called the office of our Senator yesterday, the immigration specialist was not available they said so they took my information and told me they will make sure that the specialist will call me back (hopefully tuesday as monday is a holiday). I am crossing my fingers we get approved the soonest!

Wow such a coincidence because it just so happens that I was going on the app for the purpose of getting the number of days it had been since filing, so that I could prepare my call to the senator. I was so confused when it said "approved" on the line where it would say 194 days... But yes, thats exactly what I would do at this point is contact your local congressman, but I do have a feeling there will be a wave of approvals over the next 2 weeks. Best of luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong, there were a total of 480 approvals in the Month of May for November filers?

There are 480 approvals total. 461 of those came in May, the other 19 came before May and were either expedited cases, or there was one weird day a month ahead were they approved a few on the 16th for some odd reason.

Hey everyone! I've been stalking this thread since the beginning but never posted anything. I just wanted to give hope to middle November fillers.

We got approved!

Noa1 old website- November 14th

Noa1 new website -  November 16th

Noa 2 - May 25th

New website is updated but the app still says received. Got an email as well.

I honestly think they go through more cases s day than we think. Otherwise I have no idea why we got approved. Hoping for all November fillers approval soon! It's coming!

Congratulations!! :dancing:

I'm going to type up a letter this weekend and mail it after the holiday, as Monday will be 200 days for us.  Did you email your congressperson, or write a letter? Have any suggestions/tips? I couldn't find anything extremely helpful searching VJ.

Religious reasons might be your one saving grace there, yes... but I'm guessing they have lots of practicing Muslims that still were able to meet the requirement, right? I think it's possible, but will be tough. Just relax, wait for the RFE and then tackle finding a way to give them what they want. If it is about the meeting, then I think the religion reasons strategy will be your best bet, but I don't think it's a guarantee.

I found this:

if it is established that compliance would result in extreme hardship to the petitioner or that compliance would violate strict and long-established customs of the K-1 beneficiary’s foreign culture or social practice, as where marriages are traditionally arranged by the parents of the contracting parties and the prospective bride and groom are prohibited from meeting subsequent to the arrangement and prior to the wedding day.” INA § 214.2(k)(2

Does that apply to you? Do the majority of Muslims from Egypt appllying for K-1 also not meet within 2 years?

Also, it's going to be hard to argue religious reasons when you did in fact, already meet... just not within 2 years.  They will ask how did you meet the first time that the religious reasons didn't apply?  It seems to be more about money, and not religion and I think they are going to sniff that out. I'd consult with a lawyer.

Hi I was wandering where did you find this information at because I would seriously like to look into it to see if I can possibly prove the religious angle with uscis?

If you google "8 C.F.R. §214.2(k)(2)"  you will find many posts. but here's what the text says:

"As a matter of discretion, the director may exempt the petitioner from this requirement only if it is established that compliance would result in extreme hardship to the petitioner or that compliance would violate strict and long-established customs of the K-1 beneficiary's foreign culture or social practice, as where marriages are traditionally arranged by the parents of the contracting parties and the prospective bride and groom are prohibited from meeting subsequent to the arrangement and prior to the wedding day. In addition to establishing that the required meeting would be a violation of custom or practice, the petitioner must also establish that any and all other aspects of the traditional arrangements have been or will be met in accordance with the custom or practice. Failure to establish that the petition er and K-1 beneficiary have met within the required period or that compliance with the requirement should be waived shall result in the denial of the petition. Such denial shall be without prejudice to the filing of a new petition once the petitioner and K-1 beneficiary have met in person."

My personal opinion is your petition is going to be denied and you are going to have to refile again once you've had the opportunity to meet.  It's going to be next to impossible to claim you are not allowed to meet, while already admitted you were in fact allowed to meet in the past, you just failed to do so again 2 years before submitting your petition. It's a very strict requirement.

With all due respect is how did I admit I was allowed to meet in person? We had already put on our application about not being together within 2 years due to my Muslim practicing laws. I had also spoken to attorney in past and he had assured me that that wouldn't be an issue for us because I am in Egypt with strict Muslim practicing rules and I am a Muslim.

Congratulations. Do you think that writing the congressman is what did it? Just wondering if you wrote them if by the time they got your letter and then checked with USCIS if it got approved because of them or just maybe they are working further? I have the same date so I’m hoping for an approval soon!
