Hoping anyone can help answer a question, the internet has been very unhelpful :(

I'm in the US on a K1 visa.  I entered in March, was married in June and submitted all my paperwork right after.  I had my biometrics test in August and since then, radio silence.  It's been almost 5 months since my applications for Advanced Parole and Employment Authorization have been received, but I haven't heard anything.  I'm in Seattle coming from Canada.  This seems like a very above average wait time.  I've checked my status with USCIS, but it hasn't been updated since my application was received in June.  Is there any other way to check on things?  How do I know if anything has gone wrong?  Is this an above average wait time?

Any help/words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

I have been hearing of longer wait times for the EAD/AP, but five months does seem a bit longer than normal.  Did you change your address, or anything like that since your submission?  Just wondering if you may have missed an RFE.  Other than that, maybe processing is backing up.

Good Luck!

Nope, haven't moved (and have had no issues receiving correspondence in the past).

I think any correspondence by USCIS is somewhat allergic to arriving at the correct address via US Postal Service.

I'd call USCIS and inquire. 5 months is a bit long. I have a friend who recently received EAD after waiting 4 months. By the way, the friend's green card interview came just 2 months after receiving the EAD.

5 months is much longer than expected. But your biometrics date is in August, right? I wonder then why was it in Aug if you submitted form around June. (Assuming its 5 months now)

So when was the case received by USCIS?

Here are a few things you can do if not already done :

1. Call USCIS and talk to an L2 officer and raise an SR for your case.(Raise the SR for EAD first as EAD and AP will come together if filed concurrently)

2. Contact the congressman in your area and email them the details of your case along with a scanned copy of privacy authorization form so they can post a query on your behalf. If their office is closeby you can definitely go and visit the congressman's office and talk to them in person.

And just for your peace of mind - A lot depends on the biometrics date as well. The people who had biometrics in August have started getting their EADs now. I hope you'll get yours soon within 1-2 weeks.

Good luck :)
