Do we really need to send the passport photos to NVC?! 😮

I was under the impression we just needed to take it with us to the interview?

Please clarify. Thanks

just follow the checklist that the NVC gives to you when you have paid your fees. No where does it say on there to send in passport photos. Only when  you sent in the I-130 and to bring some in with you on your interview. I know that in Spain, the medical exam before the interview needs 5 passport size photos of the beneficiary.

Remember the wiki guide on VJ is just that, a guide. They tell you  straight forward what they want from you in the checklist you send in with your packet.

Hi all, just sent my NVC package out yesterday with 3-day shipping. So how do I track things now? I've been trying to understand the thread, and it looks like there is a 'received date', so I have to call and find out? I also saw people somehow tracking other cases to know what date NVC is processing, but I'm unclear and where/how to do that. Then, there is a case complete (CC) date? Then, a scan date? Can anyone help make sense of it all or direct me where on VJ this is explained? Thanks!

I waited a few days after mailing in our AOS/IV packet to NVC and called them to verified that they received it. When they say yes it was received on ---- date, then that is the scanned date. Meaning it was scanned into the computer system.

Usually its been approx 6-11 weeks after your "scanned date" then you have case complete at the NVC stage. The next step is the NVC sending  your paperwork to the US embassy where  you will have your interview and the NVC will schedule your appointment for  you.

Just to share with you guys, when i was waiting everyday for NVC processing, i was checking approx every case from July/August/September Scan dates , i calculated the time that took every case for CC or a checklist and below are the results:

For (July/August/September) Scan dates: The average was 50 days

For (August/September) Scan dates: The average was 48 days

For (September) Scan dates: The average was 47 days

*50 Users used for the above Data*

NVC is obviously taking 6-7 weeks now to finish cases or send a checklist.

Good Luck!!

you're a life saver!!! thanks for that information!!!! is it business days meaning monday-friday or is it the whole week that you counted?

I sent in photocopies of everything and have the originals to take to the interview. I got the tax transcripts for the past 3 years, sent in paycheck stubs to show I was still employed and also that it was direct deposited into my bank account. I also have a letter from my employer showing how long I worked there and also in good standing at work.

Where do you check your status? Is it where it says “principal applicant” before it changes to “at NVC”.

You're welcome!! No it is the whole week, they consider every day when they say 11 weeks, like when we used to call them, we had a scan date of September 19, the NVC agent on the call used to count the days on the calender and give us December 5th as the expected day for CC, which is exactly 11 weeks or 77 days away from our SD, the highest wait for CC i saw in September SD cases  is 60 days. Good luck!
