Is the i-601A a waiver? And how did u know you needed one ?

Yes it is a waiver. And we knew he needed it because he entered without inspection and stayed in the US for more than 1 year. Here is a link with more helpful info for you: https://tingenwilliams.com/2015/do-i-need-an-i-601a-provisional-waiver/2378

we mailed it 3/19/17, it was scanned in on 3/23/17 and we received our approval letter on 7/15/17 with an approved date of 7/13/17. It does feel like an eternity this whole waiting game but hang in there!

I am not sure, our lawyer we have helping us sent it. But when did they send you notice of receipt and appointment for biometrics (fingerprints)?

I am getting the IV packet together and have photocopy's of the marriage license, birth certificate, and police certificate.  However, I saw on the sample cover letter from the wiki site that it says certified copy of the birth certificate and wedding certificate.  And the original police certificate.  Does it have to be like this or will my photocopys work?

oh ok. Well NVC did not send me any notification of when they received my waiver packet so I think you should call them to ask and see when they received it and that would be your scan date. The biometric appointment was sent to us in april i think about 2-3 weeks after they received out waiver packet. So since you mentioned you're at the 2 week mark maybe that letter should be on its way to you guys. I recommend calling the NVC and they will let you know when they received your packet and you can get  a better estimate from that date.

hello there, copies of all of those documents will work except for the police certificate, you will have to send the original.

As far as I know, you don't send the original police certificate, because you will need to bring it with you to the interview. Unless you plan to obtain a new one. But it's only copies
