I was asked for them each time!

I'm not doubting it...just going by what many others have gone through and posted. In a borderline (or even good) case, I would imagine they are more likely to ask about it.

The interviewer doesn't even ask about the tickets at the time as they always suggest not to buy tickets before visa is approved. She can always say she'll buy the tickets after the visa is approved. I hope she has enough bank balance to support her own trip if she had to. She can say she has to visit a friend for her wedding and will stay with the bride's family at their home. This is the truth in a way. Otherwise her own family's bank balance can act as her support evidence if she is not employed at the moment.  You can furnish her bank account statements.

Also, a fiance is not a legal relationship. It's not in any official records. As long as you guys are not married before the trip and do not have any pending petitions, its all okay. Its not lying. Its like not telling what is not even asked. They ask only about relatives in the usa at the time of visit. Fiance is not a relative before marriage. All this is assuming that this B1 will be her first visa application to usa.

I take back my post as I realize while it might have worked for some for reasons as simple as that they never questions much about it, it might prove to be wrong for others. You can go the simpler safer route and be truthful. Wish you luck :)

This is by far the ONLY WAY everyone should go when having a meeting with either the Embassy or Immigration. By trying to skirt around the truth and play tricks with semantics is a good way to be on the next flight home and/or not approved for the visa.
