Hello,

I have a problem that needs to be solved.

My family refuses to give their information on the family tree form that the embassy in Vietnam requested.  Do I have to have all family information or can I just use what I know and turn it in or do I need to do whatever it is to get the information to complete the form?

Thanks for your help

Fill it out as best you can, you can not make other people supply their information.

Wouldnt it be public record?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Many family members - including my in-laws - are paranoid about releasing information. That's typical for a Communist country and the American consulate folks are aware of it. As noted above, do the best you can. We supplied very little info and it didn't seem to matter. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the support. I did fill out what I could and turned it into the embassy. They did some question when they got all the information that needed to be submitted from the "blue paper".  She answered all the question they asked and had her go sit down and wait. after they reviewed all the information they called her back up and said: "Congratulations she will get the envelope later this week." We are very happy that this part is finally done and approved. Now we wait for the envelope and she will be here before Christmas. Thank you lord
