hey guys, I am trying to send my AOs package which has taken me a long time to work on. i have few questions and hopefully sent my package this week!!!

1-my passport with visa and all entry stamps is expired since June 2016, i have a new one now with different t number from the previous one.

when asked about my passport number and expiration date on any of the forms especially I-485, Do I enter the info from the expired passport or the new one?

and of which one should i make copy and send? ( bear on mind, the new passport has no visa stamps no entry stamps, totally unused)

2- I made copies of marriage certificate, regular copies only.. is that ok or does the copy have to be certified? if so, where can i get certified copy?

3-I already got my EAD card before for the post-completion OPT, Is the USCIS number (as in photo attachment e.g 000-000-773) the same as A-Number that goes on top of every page of I-485??

4- I decided to put N/A in every box that doesnt apply to me instead of leaving blank.. for example. if asked about family member 3 i put N.A in all 3 boxes (first, last and middle names) see photo attached for examples,. there are a lot of N/A's... is this the right way to do it?

Need your answers guys if possible, especially those who sent their packages and had no problems...

thank you

The alien registration number, which the Department of Homeland Security assigns to each alien. It is an "A" followed by eight numbers.   For example:    A12 345 678.  Some recently-issued A numbers consist of an "A" followed by nine digits. For example: A 200 345 678.

1. Use the current passport and it's current information.

2. You can submit a copy of your marriage certificate, just make sure to keep an original and bring it to the appointment, in case they ask for an original.

3. Use the same A number on each page.

4. You don't have to put N/A - you can leave them blank. From what I've heard, it doesn't matter either way.

1. I don't remember exactly but I think the i-485 asks for the info about your last entry into the US. If you used your new passport last time you entered the country then that's the info you give them from my understanding. If you entered with your old passport then that's the info you give them. If you have travelled with both passports you can add a little explanation on the printed i-94 (as you will have to send that too) as to why there are two different passport numbers. EDIT; Just saw you haven't used your new passport, so you enter your old passport's info, that info also matches your i-94.

2. Never ever send originals or certified copies unless specifically asked to. You bring those to the interview. Only photocopies in the AOS package.

3. That would be your alien number, yes.

4. I wouldn't put N/A in every box, I didn't on my own application and had no issues. On questions about how many children you have etc, you put 0, as they ask for a number. I put "none" where they asked about orgnizations I have been a member of too, as an example. I left everything blank where they ask for my childrens' information as I don't have any, also left blank where they wanted info about previous spouses (as I don't have any) etc.

thank you for your prompt reply

Yes, i never used the second passport (no visas and no entries/exits). so as I assumed i should use info on my expired passport which i use its number to retrieve my i-94. I was wondering if i can write explanations on the additional pages.

Ok so for instance, if they asked about my employment history then i put an N/A on the first box and leave the rest of the boxes empty as in the example below?

thanks for your help, i got married last may and don't want to this to take longer than it did...those little details are stressing. the only samplesi found online were older versions of the forms. thanks again

I think the i-485 should be updated in the example forms, take a look: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples/
