Hi. I’m a DV lottery winner and my interview is in December. I just realized all my documents have the same date of birth except one ! Which is my senior high sch certificate. My date of birth is 21.01.1991 which is on my birth certificate,my university transcript and my passport but my senior high school certificate has 21.01.1992. Will this affect my interview??

there is any possibility to correct that? maybe is a good option show you sent that you request an amendment in any case never talk about it unless asked. in this case you should tell your story ( that is why it could be useful )

No, it doesn’t matter as long as the interviewing officer can be reasonably sure it is in fact your school certificate. The critical issue with dates of birth is that the entry form, birth certificate and passport all show the same date.

(there are a couple of countries where errors in both dates of birth and names on SHS certificates are fairly common, I’m guessing you’re from one of those and that the consulate has seen this often enough too.)

Yes Susie, I’m from Ghana ...I’m quite nervous because I heard the CO’s are quite strict at the Gh embassy so any little error may cause denial ...

They are very strict on passport or birth certificate details not matching up to the entry form, but they’ve seen plenty of SHS certificates with a small error in DOB like you have, first and last name transposed, etc and those don’t seem to be a problem. Good luck for the interview and please keep us updated, another forum I’m on has had a few recent Ghana DV success stories which is always nice :)

Ok so Susie, if you receive your interview date for everyone lottery , does it mean that all background checks were successful???

No, it just means that you submitted a DS260, it got processed and your number is current.

Ok so why do some peoples processing take longer than others ??? I filled my forms the same day as a friend, my interview date is out and my friend’s isn’t ... why is that ?

First, is your friend’s number current?

as for processing, yes some take longer because initial background checks are part of the process and this takes different lengths of time for different people.

Ok another question please... A friend’s university certificate has ‘BSC. Family and consumer sciences IN Family and child study option’ on it ... now when filling the ds260 form; course of study ... she only put ‘CHILD STUDY’ there... will this affect her interview in anyway ??? Her interview date is already out so she can’t unlock to make any changes ...but she’s scared of being rejected...

Now the reason she put the child study there is because ‘family and child study was her major course’ ... Family and consumer science is broad ... and there are 2 options ... clothing and textile option and Family and child study option’ she omitted and ‘Family and’ ... that’s her major problem now
