We are using a Lawyer because my Fiancé has no time for research due to the nature of his job, and the Lawyer didn't include our chat history and call logs because it might take a longer time (to review all materials submitted) for approval at USCIS stage with front-loaded materials (I'm compiling all that for the interview).

USCIS doesn't review that information for an I-129F, so there's no reason to believe it would have a noticeable impact on the timeline. Even if they did, personally I'd prefer to send it and potentially risk a slightly longer time at USCIS than risking having to start all over.

Timelines:

ROC:

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this forum and I have a few general questions if anyone can help!

1) my fiancé and I have only met once for a few days in the past week, I went to Nigeria to see him, is that not enough to be approved by the consulate?

2) Do I NEED a lawyer to help me file my petition for k-1 visa ?

3) can I go to his interview once the date is established?

we took several photos and I have receipts of the hotel, my itinerary, things I bought, and my passport was stamped upon arrival and departure.

we've been dating since May of this year and I haven't been to see him more than once because I've recently graduated and started a new job so it was impossible to ask for more time off, not to mention it's quite expensive. Is one meeting enough ? Are the fiancé visas as temperamental as I've read on this site because technically all that is required is one meeting.

Ive been on the fence about getting a lawyer because it's expensive and I've also read that I don't necessarily need one,, I've researched and learned a few things on my own so far.

thank you in advance!

one of the condition for Cr1 is that the couple have met in person at least once before marriage. To be honest, its a bit funny. I am gathering evidence from our marriage day to day, so everything is perfect... and than here are couples that seen each other once in life and are saved out of this.

But back to your question- each country have different culture and traditions. What is not normal in my country might be normal in yours and the officer should be educated about it. However it also might be harder for him/her to recognize your marriage is bonafide since at these marriages is no evidence. Nigeria is tough. Be prepared.

I would reccomend a good immi lawyer that might help as they are experienced in exactly those cases.

Don't waste your money on a lawyer unless you don't like dealing with paperwork...I have seen cases where lawyers has jacked things up for the petitioner and beneficiary...Nigeria maybe a tough embassy, but you can overcome those obstacles with quality evidence (Enough face time, chat logs, call logs, Visa stamps, flight itinerary,  hotel receipts, and pictures with family & close friends). You can do it yourself and if you need help, people on this site are more than willing to help you..Save your money and DIY...Again, goodluck on your journey..

It depends on person really. We have a lawyer and he is great. As someone said here, its less papering and so you kinda dont have to think if you did anything wrong.

In fact, I feel more secured and less stressed than no having one because he is also helping with our worries. And they also prepare for interview.

However, they are bad and good lawyers. Sometimes is better to have no lawyer, than a bad one. But in your case..... if i would have to decide, i would find a lawyer who is experienced in nigeria cases.

Usually the price is 300per session.

if you feel confident doing all alone and without proofs of bona fide yourself, i would reccomend to train well all possible questions&answers
