From the date of scheduling to the consulate interview, how many days usually elapse? We're expecting NOA2 in February and I want to be present for my beneficiary's interview.

We currently live in separate countries and I want to know how much notice I would be given to buy my plane ticket.

I know that the interview schedules vary by consulate and you can sometimes see an estimate online, but I've personally seen an estimate of 10 business days (for a B2 visa interview) turn into 90 days! That being said, I have no clue what to think.

We filed September 1st, so we're not near a NOA2 date, but I wanted some semblance of a plan for when (at which stage) to buy my plane ticket following NOA2.

You should not buy a plane ticket when you receive NOA2 unless its very far in the future.

For some visas on here there's a case complete thread, you probably want to check in there, I know for cr1 they have a spreadsheet where you can see the average days between case complete and interview, not sure how much it differs for K1, but I'm sure there are similarities.

At the end of the day nothing is guaranteed and you can't be sure what hiccups or general delays might come.

Do not purchase your ticket till you have your visa and passport in hand. Things can go wrong and you could be out a lot of money.

Perhaps I should clarify: I am the petitioner who wants to be present at my beneficiary's consulate interview. I wanted to know at what point after NOA2 could I buy my ticket. For example, if consulate interviews are being scheduled only 2 weeks in advance, then that wouldn't be much time to buy a plane ticket so that I could accompany my beneficiary to the consulate.

i think you should wait for the beneficiary to schedule the interview then you can buy your ticket , don't forget that a Us citizen need a visa to enter algeria

I have a multiple entry visa valid until February 2019.

My question is how much time usually elapses between the scheduling and the interview date? Last I knew, the US Embassy in Algiers was slow in handling their various visa interviews, which would be advantageous in this case--more time to buy my ticket!
