I'm having my N-400/I-751 combo interview at the Seattle office on Monday afternoon!  :wow::wow::wow:

I'm not sure if anyone who has finished their citizenship/immigration journey reads this message (since they probably have left this thread), but please let me know if there is anything I should know for my upcoming interview!  :reading:

How was your interview?

Bring your spouse, original documents and all updated paperwork since filing I-751 & N-400.  As long as you can answer all the

citizenship questions correctly, you should be good to go.  Good luck.

I brought my spouse, but my IO didn't bother interviewing him!

I guess I sent more than enough supporting documents for my I-751 application!

I scored the first 6 questions correctly!  :joy:

I'm having my oath ceremony tomorrow afternoon at the Seattle office!     Any info and/or advice would be appreciated!  :reading:

Be prepared to talk about your marriage during the i751 portion of the interview. How you met, what you've done together since you arrived, etc.

Yes, my IO asked me how we met, if my spouse has visited my hometown and met my parents, who usually cooks, who usually manages our finances, if we're thinking about adopting children, etc.!

As to the I751 portion of the interview where I was present with my wife, we did submit updated tax information (transcripts) as we had filed two years of taxes between with the I751 was filed and the combo interview.  Beyond that, the I751 interview maybe took five minutes, the IO had the package in front of her and essentially verified all the biographical information we put on the form.  Then I was told to leave and my wife continued with her N400 interview which took about 15 minutes or so.

Good Luck!

My IO didn't interview my spouse (who was waiting outside)!  :wow:

My IO asked me to show her our joint condo ownership certificate since I told her that we bought a condo 1.5 years ago.

I also showed her our 2017 joint tax return transcript.   :joy:

My combo interview took 30 minutes!

I have heard of a few stories where the IO did not ask the spouse to come back for a joint interview, and I have also heard a few stories where the N400/I751 applicant did not have their spouse there and it was requested that they have them come down for a joint interview.  I guess it is IO dependent, but personally I would err on the side of caution and have one's spouse there with a joint application (N400/I751) if possible.

Regardless, congrats on passing the interview/tests and good luck on your oath ceremony.  If it is anything like my wife's it will take a bit to check the group in (there was 77 at my wife's ceremony), and then there will be reps from voter registration groups and from the local passport agency.  Then the judge's clerks will start the ceremony and say a few words, then the judge themselves, then the oath.  Enjoy!

so your oath is 2 days after your interview?

thats awesome !

I thiught you need to bring the 10 years green card back during the oath , how does the i751 approval works in that case ?

mine is Friday so I was confused regarding I 751 because it’s pending since July 2016!

Congrats! Looked at your timeline, your I751 almost 2.5 years and N400 is almost 1.5 years, that’s very long! That’s a very detail I751 interview. So happy your journey is over and enjoy your life:)

Not my wife’s oath, but rather @AustinCanada ceremony.  When you check in for the oath, they will take any cards (EAD/AP conditional or 10 yr GC) you might have.  In my wife’s case she had her card taken when she got her I551 stamp, so she had an affidavit from the IO that they took.  As far as the I751, that is approved via a NOA and the oath would not have been scheduled unless the I751 was also approved.  With a combo filing, the 10 yr GC should not be produced even if the NOA says it will be.

Is there still any chance to get my CG approved prior to my future intrview? I have pending I-751 for almost 15 months and filed N-400 in July this year. My local office timeline showing Nov.2019 completition time. Just curious do they  always  combine them or still can be separately, since lots of July/Aug 2017 getting approved now...

Normally they combine them. Shortly you will receive a notice that your i751  transfers to NBC. Don't look at the completion date online, mine shows March 2019 but I have my interview scheduled on Nov 13th.

I haven’t received any notification to say my I-751 was transferred to NBC or local office. My N-400 Interview is next week. Does that mean mine won’t be processed together?

what my lawyer told me is NBC is doing N400 or scheduling interviews. CSC transfer mine to NBC, then NBC transfer my N400 and I751 all together to local office for interview. However, right now there is no standard way to judge how they process cases since everything is backlog.

is your interview in LA downtown?

We never received a notice that the applications were combined prior to my wife's N400 interview, but the IO clearly had the inch thick I751 submission in front of her.  I think we finally received a notice of the combination about a week after the N400 interview if I remember correctly.

Good Luck!
