I saw your timeline that you filed I751 in October 2016 and file N400 in November 2017. I was wondering if you got approved or interview for both of them? Looks like N400 delayed I751 approval? Thank you!

Nothing since the transfer notice to NBC (05/01 and 05/03 via email and 05/07/18 in mail). If they needed more evidence they would have sent RFE but they havent, yet. So taking that as a positive.

Not sure what to make of applying for N400. Some ppl here say it moves process faster and some says it delays.

I think the transfer notices we have gotten so far don't say anything. It is just a ploy to calm us down to make us think finally our cases are going somewhere. The fact that I also got the same updates a week after my 751 approval letter is telling. I won't read to deep into those updates, but at least they are beginning to realize people have been waiting for a long long time, especially CSC applicants, the 400 application on top if it makes it more complicated.

For us it definitely moved the process along.  Katya filed the ROC in December of 2016 into the quagmire that CSC turned into.  Subsequently, she filed the N400 in January of 2018, had her naturalization interview (along with a joint ROC interview with me present) in early April 2018, the ROC was transferred to the NBC shortly afterward (I think), and we received the approval of the ROC May 4th (about a month after the transfer).  Since she was approved for the N400 in early April, USCIS was simply waiting on the ROC approval to schedule the oath ceremony which they have done for June 11th.  Back in the December 2016 ROC thread, they are mostly still talking about November 2016 ROCs being processed by CSC, so overall, it was much faster for Katya to combine the N400 as after June 11th, the journey is over whereas someone waiting to file the N400 after the ROC is approved will need to wait for that, and based on processing times, potentially another 8-14 months.

That is the odd thing about your case, but I agree, it is telling with respect to the inner workings of USCIS that most of us can only speculate on.

Thank you so much, I think I should not worry too much about the 2 updates as some who have done their interviews also got the identical updates. Will keep you posted, I will go to the ceremony and see what happens, I will take my 751 approval notice and my conditional green card, and my husband's death certificate, and see what happens. Thank you, so happy you are a citizen now.

Based on your situation, I hope it all works out well for you.  I know back a few pages after your husband died it didn't look like the oath would go forward and you would have to wait another 2 years or so to try again.  Maybe your husband is pulling some strings for you! :)

Good Luck!

Thank you, that would be wonderful. I really thought I was going to be rejected, but they had to know my husband passed because I submitted his death certificate right away when it was available. I dropped it off as an emergency. Why wouldn't they just find me ineligible? Unless it is an error. I know another applicant who got the approval letter, but her online status still says "Name was updated". So it the online status might not be that reliable.

Thanks for your wish, I guess I will just be positive. I will take my approval letter with me and my conditional green card, I doubt I am going to get my green card before the oath next week. My expectations are still low though and I expect to lose my eligibility at the oath, so we will see. Good luck to you too. If I lose my eligibility, I will just wait till next August to re apply for 400.

I am an Oct 2016 ROC and Nov 2017 for (N-400) at CSC, clearly before you guys. So not sure what to make of processing times info. As in your case the approval was month after a transfer. My transfer was on May 1st so will wait till about a month to get that I-551 stamp.

@ramus_maximus I know exactly the area of your account that you're talking about.

My husband's account says 12 months. I think it has to do with which local office the N400 is being processed; ours is Portland, Oregon. The officer that my husband spoke to last Friday that it's been going about 6 months until approval with a pending Roc.

I saw from your timeline, you just applied to N-400.  Did you get the transfer notice for I-751 to NBC in past few weeks?
