Just got off the phone with a tier 2 officer. The officer told me they have more than likely suspended my green card production(My 751 was approved on 4/26/2018) because my oath ceremony has been scheduled, but the drag is my husband passed 3 days after the interview which will make me ineligible for citizenship by law, so like I expected, I will go to the oath and they will find me ineligible and they will resume the production of my green card. What a drag, I guess I had been waiting for so long for long for the 751 approval, and I finally got approved after near 21 months, 2 more weeks are not going to matter. Hopefully after I lose my eligibility in 2 weeks, then can resume the green card production quickly so I can get my green card soon. What a drag. They were supposed to reject my 400 first, if they did, my green card would have been in production now.

Be positive! I think you will get your citizenship instead of just a green card during the oath! You'll see!

If they decided to override the law, yes, I would be a citizen, then it would be a huge miracle and I would have to request a copy of 445, stamped by USCIS or a supervisor. My lawyer told me if that happened, I should have proof that I will have answered every question truthfully under oath. Thanks for your encouragement though, we will see what happens, I think it is going to be a long shot that they will override INA 319(a).

Like I have not gone through enough with my husband's passing, but at least I am happy that I am 751 approved.

Hubby just finished his online application for N400. Ceremoniously hit sign, and poof... We get the "pay now" page instead of "you successfully submitted your application" LOL:P

we got through that, got the happy congratulatory screen, and now we just wait like everybody else :)

Husband went up today to get his i551 stamp. His green card expires on the 24th this month. We tried to get a stamp 2 weeks ago, but there was a system-wide computer shut down.

He got the same IO that we got two weeks ago: super nice and helpful fellow. he spent 15 minutes talking to my husband. My husband asked him questions about processing times, local office in Portland, Oregon. Being a year into it already, the officer said it's about 6 to 9 more months. Then my husband mentioned that he filed for citizenship (just last night)  and the officer said things would speed up, more like 6 months or sooner if our documents check out fine.

Now here's the kicker, after looking in his computer he takes my husband's passport, stamps it and seals it, and *then* has my husband record his finger print on both index fingers and have a front profile picture taken. Like a mini Biometrics appointment:ph34r:. Has anybody had this done during their i-551 stamp infopass appointment? just asking because I haven't heard of this being done with anybody else.

Thanks for sharing the experience as well as the information. I am very happy that your husband filed for the naturalization because there is no point waiting for ROC since it is taking forever. Regarding your question I am clueless because I am still debating whether I should get the i-551 extension stamp. My GC expires next month. I will look for information on that matter. I hope someone else with an information would enlighten us, thanks.

In regards to the i-551 stamp, wouldn't you feel naked without current documentation that says that you are a permanent resident?

It drives me nuts as it is that he has to carry around an expired green card. Anybody that has seen it for whatever documentation freaks out that it's expired:wacko:

No, I wouldn't feel uncomfortable or anxious without an I-551 stamp because my legal status is pending at the moment with USCIS. My legal permanent resident status does not change if I have an expired GC because I have already filed the petition. Having said that it is very good to have the proof of your residence. Your husband absolutely took the right step but I am just so optimistic that I would be done with naturalization process in a couple of months so I don't need the extension stamp. Well, one morning I will wake up and change my mind and get the extension stamp but at this point, neither my work or school have asked me to provide them post GC expiration documentation. I am not traveling abroad anytime soon and not planning to switch jobs in next few months so I feel good about things. The immigration process is not fun and I was thinking the other day that this whole process started in 2013 from scratch and I am still in the process  On the positive side I learned a lot during this process. Met some very nice people like you who are very supportive and I learned a lot on this journey. The wait is worth it. Say Hi to hubby :) regards

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to update you on my situation.

Took the Oath of Allegiance yesterday and became a US citizen. Also got my passport right away at the Miami Passport Agency as I'm traveling internationally tomorrow (I actually had a flight yesterday afternoon but the passport was not issued in time for that).

The funny thing I wanted to share is that as soon as I left the passport office, I also received an unrelated text message that my permanent green card was mailed to me (@Zombie69, this also goes against what the agent told you on the phone, fortunately for you). So the timeline from approval to mailed was less than 3 weeks (April 24 / May 11). This is for all of you that have not applied for citizenship but were approved for the ROC and have not received your card. Things seem to be moving.

All the best!

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

Hubby filed N400 electronically Thursday (5/10), night PST, got notice last night (Friday,  5/11) that his Biometrics appointment letter was sent out!

- my encouragement to others to do your N400 online,  it's fast and easy! 😁

Question- those with ROC pending and filing N400 under 3 years of marriage,  did your spouse attend *this* biometrics appointment?  I, the spouse,  would go but getting flack from work about the time off with short notice.

-Ha!, and we don't want to change the appointment to further out  because we want to get this over with yesterday! 🤣

Congratulations!!! Truly happy for you, so if you got that text message of your card being mailed right after the oath, I could still get the green card update as well. My oath is on the 23rd, you are right, your situation goes against what the tier 2 officers told me about the possibility of getting my green card regardless anyway. The outcome of my oath is uncertain due to the passing of my husband 3 days after the interview, but they approved me and scheduled my oath anyway, so I will do what I do, be honest, fill out my 445, and see what happens. I will take my 751 approval letter and my conditional green card with me to the oath if I don't have my green card by the oath. One question, I got two updates after my approval saying my case has been transferred to another office and another update says my case has been transferred to a new office. Did your 751 get these updates too before they told you they mailed your card? Congrats again.
