thats the common sense,  i believe

I could not take my spouse with me because he was sick and in critical condition, and still is, I presented evidence of his critical condition in a packet of expedited oath ceremony, he looked at it and said he would talk to his supervisor. We will see, I did my best.

Hi guys,

I just had an interview, and no where did they ask for me to bring my spouse with me. I still have a pending I751, and they just sent me a letter for my interview for my N400 on April 11th.  Should I bring my spouse with me? She is busy and works but I do not know if she will be needed, as they letter only specified that I should be present, and never specified that we should both be there. Thanks,

Josh

Better the USC spouse is there and not needed, versus her not being there if the USCIS case worker asks for her.

Congrats. My husband is in the hospital fighting for his life and I presented as much evidence as I could with a package of expedited oath ceremony during the interview, he could not give me an answer, and could not talk to his supervisor, but he said he would talk to him yesterday. I am happy for you, but if it weren't for DOMA that prevented LGBT people from getting immigration benefits, we would not be in this situation. It is so unfair, but it is what it is. My husband might not be alive to see me become a citizen. It really makes me angry, but anyway, I have to stay strong and just wait and wait. If my husband passes before the oath, my naturaization will be canceled, and I will have to make an appointment with USCIS and explain to them so they will issue my 10 year green card. Well, congrats, glad it went so smoothly with you, I wish u could take my husband with me, be he was in critical condition, with the evidence I submitted, they should easily weigh the interview and adjudicate both. I am just praying every day for my husband's recovery and the approval of my naturalization.

I really hope your hubby gets better and sees you become a US citizen!  :)

Thank you, I hope so too. I went to my congressman's office and they will follow up for me. I did my best, so just need to wait and see now. I hope you will hear from them soon too.

I am in the same situation. I guess I will take the risk as in the letter did not mention that I have to bring my spouse with me. Nothing I can do, my spouse is traveling for work. I guest the officer will schedule us for an interview for I-751 form if they have to. I'm sure we'll will be fine.

Best of luck

I know I plan to be there when Katya has her N400 interview.  It is too bad that your spouse is traveling, but this is fairly important as well.

Hey guys,

I've been reading in this forum for about 2 months now but never wrote here..

A little background, I've sent my I-751 on Janurary 2017 and received the "Case was received at local office.." like everybody on 2/25/2018.

Last month I went to my local office (Greer, SC) to get my passport stamp. The immigration officer wasn't knowledgeable at all and after being so rude he did stamp my passport but said I can't get my green card back. I asked him about the message everybody got and he just said "No, your case is still at the service center". We asked if I can go ahead and apply for citizenship and he said "sure".

So I did in the beginning of this month.

I'm just back from my biometric appointment in Greer, SC for my N-400. As soon as I walk in the security guard asked for my green card. I showed him my passport and explained the whole thing but he just said "No. I need your green card" I kept telling him I was there last month and the immigration officer didn't give it back. He then went to ask the other security guard who told him "this is her green card" pointing on the stamp in my passport.

But that wasn't all... Then in the line to the biometric machine.. the older lady asks me where is my green card, so the whole thing starts again! I was so upset at that point cuz then she said "you can't apply to citizenship while you I-751 is pending" I told her that according to their website and their own Immigration officer (!) I can, so she sain "you're walking on a thin line" and started laughing!

The other guy there took my fingerprints, picture and signature and I left... but God they made me sick!

Just wanted to share that with all of you, I will creat my timeline here later. What worries me is that in my citizenship interview I will have an officer that doesn't know enough about the 2 applications pending together... :(

Yeah, that sucks. I am so sorry for your experience. I had the similar situation like you, officer took my expired green card and told me I dont need it, the stamp in my passport is my green card.  I believe maybe you are at a smaller town, most people dont know that many changes as well as two applications. Take it easy, they are not the one to interview you.

I filed my I751 on Jan 27th 2017, Filed my N400 on March 20th,  I am in LA area, so they should be knowledgeable. But I haven't received any bio appointment yet. It gonna be a long ride, but the only thing we could do is wait, wait and wait.

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question and desperately need some insights from you:

My i-751 is still pending, and my N-400 interview result is "Pass but decision can't be made". I do have to leave the US next month to go on a business trip.

Let's say now I get an appointment for the Stamp on my passport, is that stamp a good enough proof for me to leave and enter the US without any problem?

What I'm afraid of is they will take away my conditional green card when I come in for the stamp, and when I come back to the States, customs will give me a hard time because I don't have a green card with me?

What should I do in this case? I'd appreciate if you could give me some advice and guidance.

Thank you

the stamp just serves as that plastic card,  you should be fine for in and out of the states
