Congrats!

I am so happy Katya decided to file the N400 instead of waiting for the ROC.  She filed the I751 in December 2016 and filed the N400 in Mid-January 2018.  We waited a few weeks since she was heading to see her mom and she did not want to be caught with a biometrics appointment while away.  Anyway, based on the Detroit processing times, we were expecting a 7-8 month wait, so imagine our surprise when she got the text/email/NOA regarding the interview being scheduled April 10.  For her, it was less than 3 months from filing to Interview for the N400.  Good thing she has already been studying US Civics and prepping for the interview.  I will definitely be there with her for the interview, so if they want to talk to me about the I751, that will be fine.  I am just happy to seeing the light growing bigger at the end of the tunnel for her and I.

Exactly!

Good for you, Bill and Katya, you're almost there!

Congratulations!!! For your ROC, are you a VSC or a CSC filer? And where is the field office that you applied at for your 400?

Thanks, babe2012.

I'm a November 2016 CSC filer, and my field office is Oakland Park, FL.

The ROC interview was triggered by the N-400 petition. I never received anything for the ROC, only the letter for the citizenship interview.

Hope this helps.

That is very motivated to hear. I am a CSC July 2017 filer. Haven’t received anything yet after my  biometrics appointment. Before you applied the 400, are you one of the filer that says that there I-751 has been moved to your local office?

I’m already due in 4 months, I’m really debating if I should do it or not :( like is there a prons or a cons on it?

It depends on what your ultimate goal is.

If your ultimate goal is citizenship, then by any means when it comes the time, do it. I'm a November 2016 ROC filer at CSC, and if it weren't for my N-400 application I would still be waiting (and that's a VERY LONG wait).

Yes it’s really a long wait. :( And I check the N400 processing times on where I live, they’re current processing Feb 2017. So it means it’s a 1 year of waiting?

Don't pay attention to those, they're usually not accurate. The ones for my field office, for instance, are not.

Just remember, the N400 clock is a separate clock that does not start until the N400 is filed.  So if your local office is taking 12 months to process N400s, and naturalization is the ultimate goal, why not get that clock started.  If the ROC is approved while waiting, then fine.

Alright, everyone!

A quick update on my situation.

As I mentioned, I had my interview on March 12 (combined ROC and N-400) and was recommended for approval.

As of today, I have yet to be put in line for the Oath Ceremony, so I decided to go to the Field Office and inquire as to what is happening. The officer that assisted me was very professional and kind. He had a look at my Naturalization Interview Results and my expired Green Card, and then mentioned that the reason why I have not received an invitation to attend the Oath Ceremony is the following:

They have a new system in place and they are not able to "approve" my ROC because of that, which means they can't schedule me for the Oath Ceremony. He said that he can see I had the interview and that I was recommended for approval, but that until they can actually change my ROC status to approved in their "new" system, I unfortunately have to wait.

He mentioned that ROC applications are stuck nationwide, to which I replied that I knew of other applicants who just had their applications approved at "Service Centers" level, both at VT and CA. He said that at the field office that's what's going on at the moment and could not give me an estimated timeline of when this will be resolved.

Long story short, it sucks. I'll try to get another appointment for Monday to see what's going on once again. I did print a screenshot of someone who just got approved (just the date and the "we approved your case" information), and hopefully they will be able to do something about it.

We have travel plans for specific special occasions, and not having a specific timeline of when this will be resolved is frustrating to say the least.

To anyone who had their ROC approved with the N-400 recently, please let me know. Also to anyone interviewing for the N-400 with a pending ROC in the next few days/weeks, please keep me posted, even with a personal message.

Thanks!
