I brought old and new evidence in slimmer backpack to the N400 interview. (It was documents for pending I751 and N400, almost everything the same).

Yeah I’m bringing old and new, but still not sure how that could add up to 4 large folders lol. (Unless people are including *every* bank statement, or actual full tax returns etc, I guess)

My whole thing will probably be in 2 thin folders (it would probably fit in 1 but using 2 to separate the old and new)

I did similar, so in the end I submitted only new tax 2018 papers and new apartment lease. The officer asked for anything new, maybe newer photos. My last photos were submitted online with N400 in January 2019, photos from Dec 2018.

He said I submitted a lot of evidence anyway.

as I said, I put everything in slimmer backpack, and no problem taking it with me inside.

Congratulations to all who have successfully passed the naturalization.

A question, I have pending I-751 and N-400 and submitted in July 2018( N-400) in Baltimore, MD.

After the N-400 submission till interview date, I have additional evidence. I have a 4 big folders.

My 1st question is : Is they allow big bag or small luggage to carry in the interview area?

After marriage my wife change her last name and add my last name in her name.

She filed USCIS for name change and it is still pending with USCIS. Although we have court order for her name change also.

My 2nd question is : My wife naturalization certificate is with USCIS and We have photocopy of  my wife naturalization certificate. I have a receipt that her name changing is in progress in USCIS.

Can i have to prepare r bring additional documents or anything for this ?

Please suggest ?

Why does USCIS have your wife’s original USCIS certificate?

Why does USCIS have your wife’s original USCIS certificate?

When you request for new naturalization certificate, You have to submit the original old one.

After marriage my wife changes her last name and submit original naturalization certificate to replace with new one with changed last name.

The request is pending and we have the receipt.

Makes sense.  As to adding additional information, I know with us when we had the I751 interview, the IO allowed us to add additional information such as updated tax transcripts.  I am not sure what limit they might have.

Good Luck!

For any of you that had your I751 case transferred to the NBC... Approx. how long after it was transferred did it take to be received at the local office? And then how long from it being received at the local office did it take for your N400 to be scheduled/rescheduled?

My i751 was transfered to NBC on December 21, I never received any notice about my local office having my file but they had it in hands the day of my n400 interview. I was a i751 July 2017 filer.

Thanks @MK108

I will not submit W2 for now BUT bring them to the interview. Do I need to submit our driver licenses as well for N400?

They I don't work since I came here, I depend on my husband, we file taxes together so that is the only document we summited about income, no w2 or anything else.

@dilip So had the N400 interview today [July 8th]...

Showed up like 15 mins before interview and got called on time. I got notice for N400 only but i brought Spouse just in case. Also the USCIS response to my out of processing window indicated they would be adjudicated together but then again, this could have just been a generic response.

I got up and walked to officer and he noticed that my partner was there as well and he asked me if I meant to bring him in as well. I wasn't sure if he wanted to do N400 first. Anyhow we followed him to his office and he was absolutely professional and courteous. It was a pleasant experience.

I had brought with me additional evidence, latest tax return and bank statements. He asked for my passport, ID and green card. I verified name and got fingerprinted and signed a couple forms.
Casually asked "Asked how long we been married?"

He then announced that he would be conducting the N400. (Questions asked below...)

1. What does the judicial branch do?
2. What ocean borders the east coast?

3. How many justices does the supreme court has?
4. We elect a President for how many years?
5. What are the two major political parties in the United States?
6. Who was the president during WW1?

Casually asked "how did we meet?"

He said I passed N400 but couldn't approve since my I-751 is pending and he needs to have another colleague review before he can put final approval. He did say I wouldn't need to come back for the I-751 interview since he kinda conducted both and that was a surprise to me because he didn't make the interview transition from one to the other. I was worried he was going to mHiss seeing a document and i'd have to come back again or get an RFE since i had brought everything with me for him to go over. I mentioned i had brought original birth certs and marriage cert etc.. and he went over them briefly. He said I was done and could go home. Hope this helps you all!

Congratulations,

How long it took to get the approval after your interview. I have my interview on June 26 which is 16 days ago whiteout hearing anything, also my online still shows interview notice, no updates. Did anyone has the same experience. I start getting anxious.
