Good luck in your interview. Could you please let me know how did you figured out that they will adjust 2 cases at the same time? I tried to call them and send messages but they didn't say anything about I-751 at all.

I did an inquiry for the i751 for out of processing window and they sent me a response 35 days later saying both n400 and i751 were going to be adjucated together. But then again, that's a generic statement from USCIS when u do an inquiry. Even with that an office at your local office can turn you down and send you home if u turn up for n400 interview with pending ROC. I'm philly based and I know that ppl in my boat got adjucated together.

I tried to get an answer like that, but all I got was an answer saying that my I-751 is ongoing. A non-answer, essentially.

When I got to the N400 interview with my wife, the IO also interviewed her as well. The IO never clearly stated she was conducting the combo interview, and because the IO was adversarial from the beginning, I didn't feel like asking. I only deduced the interview was a combo after the interview because she had a question that was from the I751 form. I had to google the words to confirm.

If your I751 is pending and your N400 interview is scheduled, everyone should bring their spouses just in case! I wouldn't be surprised if over the phone or via email you received the wrong information saying "no need to bring spouse" only to find yourself in the interview with the IO asking, "Where's your spouse?"

(If you already have your 10-year Green Card from a successful I751 application, then there's no need to bring your spouse for the N400 interview... That's my understanding!)

I would apply for 400 now if I were you. I was in the same situation, my 400 was approved a month later after my 751 was approved. However, my husband passed away 3 days after my 400 interview. If my husband were around and healthy, they would have probably done a joint interview. I had to submit my dear husband's death certificate when it became available and requested USCIS to convert the joint 751 to a widower waiver application, sadly and in a bittersweet situation, my husband's passing might have expedited my 751 and subsequently USCIS approved my 400 and sent me a ceremony notification. However, with the unprecedented long processing time for 751 and so many accounts of the dual pending applicants here. I would apply for 400 right away. Good luck.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I can't imagine the heartache 😢

Thank you for the info. I have put my application together online and we are gathering all our evidence to upload and going to apply right away. My heart goes out to you!

Thanks a lot for your support and condolences. I really appreciate it. You are on the right track and you are doing the right thing. It will take a while, but you will be fine eventually. Time will fly much faster than you anticipate. Good luck!

I'm ROC sep 2018 filer and no update after receiving the 18 months extension letter (Oct 2018)..

I'll be applying for N-400 in September and have few questions..

1. Will there be any issue if I travel abroad in Nov for 1-2 months? (thats immediately after applying N-400)

2. My job is a temporary one, so if i would need to move to other state, will that delay my N-400 application?

3. If i get biometric when I'm out of country, how easy will it be to reschedule?

Thanks..!!

Looks like there would be some slack on the processing time but might get some people attending interviews outside their local office (which probably of people don't mind or maybe not) ... haha

-- This is good news to some of us in a very slow states like Texas --

- Your Biometric appointment should be scheduled within weeks of submitting the application. Make sure you have a month or two of time between applying and traveling outside the country. Ask people whose application are also being processed in the same field office for a better estimate.

- If you have already applied and then move, I don't think there should be any issue technically, but yes, transferring cases between field offices does seem to delay the process slightly. If you are moving first, then applying, I think you need to be a resident for 3 months, hence wait 3 months after moving, before even applying.

- If you are applying online, you'll see your biometric appointment notice and you can request a reschedule through the online account using the Inbox/Messages feature. They were prompt in responding to my request for rescheduling but I have read of other folks' experience where they took forever to reschedule. If possible, stay until you get your biometric.

Hope this helps! Good luck :)

David1987-They are not accepting my out of processing time inquiry, even it says VSC , Dec 4, 2017 can send an inquiry.  I did send an email request and it is now more than a month and no reply.  Glad to know you got a reply and they confirmed that it will be a combo interview.

Hey, I’m in the same situation. October 30th filer, Vermont. I called USCIS customer service yesterday and they told me that processing time for Vermont on the website are not correct. It should be 20 months. I was told to wait 15 days and I would be able to submit request that the case is out of processing time. That means right now they are accepting inquiries for cases filed mid October 2017.

Hi guys!

I wanted to write in this post to advice everyone in my situation.

I have my I-751 pending from May 2018 and I applied to N400 on October 2018.

While my I-751 had no updates (only a transfer to a different office) my N400 was going smooth and they scheduled my interview today.

I was super excited to be almost at the end of this journey, but when they call my number the officer told me that I won't be having my interview today because they didn't scheduled a Combo-Interview and he wasn't able to do it, so now I have to wait for a letter with a Combo-interview 😪

So, Advice: if you've already applied for the N400 and they scheduled and interview, make sure (100% sure) that it is a combo-interview. Don't waste your PTO and your time

So sad...
