I was hoping combo interview but he said they don’t have IO for i 751 interview so I could not able to do my interview today. So i am again on waiting game.

I am sorry that you experienced this kind of non-sense, but did you by any chance request out of normal processing timeline when your I 751 is delayed?

I am only asking this since Montgomery, AL has average processing time for N400 as 9.5 months according to USCIS, and your I 751 is significantly delayed.

If so, you probably got the letter from USCIS similarly writing that "Our records indicate both I 751 and N400 will be concurrently processed" or along the line.

If so, you can request an expedite request to schedule your I 751 interviews due to USCIS's error.

If not, then nothing really you can do can be out since it is upto USCIS's discretion to decide to conduct the interview.

The chance is that the IO may not have authorization to approve your I 751, and therefore it would be just waste of everyone's time to conduct N400 when your I 751 is still pending, and the IO can't do anything either (although if he could have been nicer by asking his supervisor or co-workers who had authorization to approve I 751).

What is your I 751 timeline and how about N400?

Thank you so much.

Have you submit service request for "Out of Normal Processing time"?

Also, when you have the interview with the IO for N400, did you mention you have pending I 751 or the IO brought it up first?

And ya i did service request for out of normal processing time for my i 751 and i got email to said they will handle both case same time. But when i went to office i talk to really nice IO who explain me about everything so nicely. He said IO who do i 751 he is not here and he is not authorize person to do that so he said just come back on june and do your i 751 first and once you passed it you can offer them for n400.

Actually IO bought it first . So here is the thing i got email day before my interview that have to cancel n400 interview bcz of pending i751 and they schedule me for i751 interview on June so plz don’t show up on n400 interview. But my wife said we don’t want to take chance bcz they did not send any letter for that so we should go and see what’s going on. So we went to office and IO said I cannot take your interview for n400 . I told him that my wife is with me and i got all the evidence for marriage and then he explained me all thing about he is not authorize person to do that interview so

My wife had the same experience as you.  She was originally scheduled for N400 interview last February.  We showed up thinking it would be a joint I 751/ n400 interview.  However we were told they could not do the N400 interview with a pending I 751. We were told further that they will notify us within 90 days of the I 751 interview then N400 will follow since different officers will perform the interview.  In mid March we got a call from our local USCIS office (San Jose) that they are scheduling my wife's I 751 interview  in April  I should  be present . There was no mention of the N400 however. So we thought it would delay it farther.

A week before her I 751 interview we got NOA  that they will also conduct the N400 on same day as the I 751.  Fast forward on the day of her interview: both I 751 and N400 conducted by same officer . Done within 20 minutes.  She passed both interviews and was approved.  Hang in there you're almost done.  Good luck.

N-400 Application Timeline:

Sent: Aug 07, 2018

Biometrics: Aug 29, 2018

Interview: Apr 30, 2019

*waiting on Oath schedule

Sent an inquiry about I-751 outside processing time on Apr 11, 2019 and if it will be a combo interview because there was no mention of I-751 in the interview notice. I got a reply about 9 days later saying, "On 03/26/2019, we sent you an interview notice requesting that you go to your local office for an N-400 interview on 04/30/2019. We mailed your notice to the most recent address we have on file. Before we can conduct an interview for your N-400 application, your I-751 must be adjudicated. We cannot guarantee that your N-400 application will be adjudicated on the same day, but we will make every effort to adjudicate your I-751 on the same day as your scheduled N-400 interview. To facilitate this, your spouse would be required to attend your N-400 interview, and you will also need to bring the following:
Your N-400 interview notice; your ID; your spouse's ID; your passport; your permanent resident card; originals and one (1) set of copies, proof of your marital union from the filing date of this I-751 application to the present. "

My interview was scheduled today at 7:55AM in San Jose and my husband and son came with me to the interview. We got there at 7:10AM (we live about an hr away) and proceeded to security check. We were told that check-in counter opens at 7:25AM so we were sent to wait. I went and checked-in at 7:25AM and went back to the waiting room. We were called a little after 8AM by a really nice IO. He told us to follow him in his office. He was nice to he let us give our son juice while we were being interviewed. Honestly, I was half expecting to be told that they will need to reschedule us just like some of the ones I've read on Visa Journey but Im glad we weren't asked to reschedule.

The IO said he will go thru our I-751 materials first before the N-400. He made us take an oath and checked our IDs. He verified some information from the form and then asked us questions about when we met, where, when we got married, how long before I came over to the US, if we have any other kids, if we lived anywhere else than the address where we currently reside at. Then he asked if we are submitting other docs, I said yes and gave him updated tax forms, insurance forms, our son's school application form and the information on our latest travel to the Philippines. When he was satisfied he said everything is good and that we are now to proceed with the N-400 interview and so he escorted my husband and our son back out to the waiting area.

When he came back, he verified more information on the forms, did the questions that were like in the application form. Then he said its the Civics test next. He asked these questions:

1. Name one problem that led to the civil war.

2. Before he was president, Eisenhower was a general. What war was he in?

3. How many senators are there?

4. Name one of the two longest rivers in the United States.

5. Name one state that borders Canada.

6. Who is the president of the US now?

Then he asked me to read : "Who can vote?" and asked me to write : "Citizens can vote."

Then he told me that I passed, everything looks good and that he will recommend my application for approval. He gave me the form that I passed and asked me if I had any questions. I asked if they are going to send me my greencard still and he said they will probably hold the production if I am able to make it to the Oath ceremony, the next one is in 3 weeks. I said yes and he said I will most likely get the letter in a week regarding the Oath Ceremony. I thanked him and he told me "it was nice to meet you." And that was that. :) We were out of there by 8:30AM.

An hour later, my N-400 had a status change that they have mailed me my Oath Ceremony Notice. Checked my DHS online account it had 3 updates today. One for attending the interview, one for them approving my application and the last one for the Oath Ceremony Notice. Nothing on the documents tab yet but it says that might take a few days so I'll wait. My I-751 status hasn't changed.

Sorry for the long post and good luck to everyone who are still waiting for updates. :)

Ok, guys so I have something different for you all:

I had my N-400 interview today at 11:00, I had ROC pending but decided to go by myself since my husband couldn't have a day off from job. I was 100% I will get my interview rescheduled because of my ROC, but I was lucky, the officer was lovely and professional. She never mentions anything about my husband not being with me. The first thing she asked was my appointment letter, passport, licences, and Green card; I told her an official took my green card, and I just had the stamp in my passport, she said to me that was fine. She has my file with her and asked me for all new evidence (I had a lot) then she proceeds to do my test, six questions, read one sentence and write another one.

She asked my husband DOB if we were living together and things about my daughter. Then she went over my application all the Yes and No answers. In the end, she congratulated me and gave me the letter that said I past the test and was recommended for approval.

I just checked my online status, and it said Oath ceremony will be scheduled.

My ROC status and Green card production had not changed.

So I don't know what to think since my I-751 has no change jet.

Wow that was great ... Congrats ... Some of the officers are actually "human" ... haha

Did she asked about your tax returns or specially mention if filed jointly?
