Hey @edpa

For N400 I applied on 5/22, interview was on 1/17, so it took 8 months

I didn’t request the combo interview, they made this decision because of the pending 751

As a follow up from my last post, I already received my 10-years GC (last Thursday), but still waiting for the Oath ceremony to be scheduled. I have go through the Court since I want to change a name. Probably that’s why some delays

i hope it will help 😊

Hey guys,

My interview is scheduled in Feb. The interview notice mentions to bring 'Your spouse's birth or naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship.' My spouse doesn't have a naturalization certificate, or a certificate of citizenship. She does have a passport though. Is the passport enough?

Also, she sent her passport for renewal, you guys think a photocopy of her passport will suffice?

a copy of the passport won't be enough. Basically they need to prove that your wife has been a citizen for at least 3 years. That's why they ask for a birth certificate or a naturalization cert. If she's a citizen by birth then she'll have a birth cert. and not a naturalization cert.

She doesn't have a naturalization certificate as she gained citizenship through her parents while she was under 18 years of age. So passport is her only proof of being a citizen.

Oh, now I get it. Then I think the passport itself would be the best thing to do. How long would she have to wait for it to be renewed ?

She'll have to wait a couple of weeks based on current renewal timelines so unfortunately she won't get it before the interview. I'll just take the photocopy of the passport and hope for the best!

I would also take a receipt for the renewal or something to prove that she is in fact doesn't have her passport due to renewal process. You know how the USCIS work and that they need you to prove everything

Today we were notified of the interview appointment for naturalization that would take place on Feb 28. Interestingly enough, the login online info still shows it might take until April 2019 as an estimate, so for our situation it was roughly a year for the notice in combination with the I-751. Of course, I don't know the status of the ROC for the I-751, so we're hoping that it's a combo interview without issues.

Congrats, have you received your 10 years green card yet ?

Hello Everyone,

I received my 10 year green card not long after I applied for the N-400 in July 2018. A few days ago, I received the happy online notification that my naturalization interview was scheduled for Mar 1. But yesterday, I suddenly received another online notification that my file was transferred to another field office for review (and the letter explaining why would be uploaded later). Has anyone had the experience of receiving the interview appointment (happy!) and then file has been transferred (confused! why?!)? What's happening?

Many thanks,

SabineGriffin

1. The transfer probably occurred due to some sort of file balancing that happens btwn the 2 offices. I wouldn't worry about it.

2. When they say that a letter/document will be uploaded to your online account, it usually happens in a day or two. Keep checking your account and you'll see the answer soon.

No, the I-751 ROC is still pending, so I'm hoping for a combo interview and perhaps they will skip the production of the 10 year green card.

I am pretty sure it will be a combo interview , I only received the notice for the N-400 and my I-751 is still pending officially but when I called USCIS and when I inquired online about my I-751 they told me both time that it will be a combo interview.

I have a list of the documents to bring for the N-400 but they did not send me anything for the I-751.

Does anyone know if we need to bring extra docs or will the docs for the N-400 enough for the I-751 interview as well?

Thank you

hi everyone.. so just sharing my experience here as i used to visit this site frequently. iam a VSC filer . filed ROC in Nov 2017 although i was eligible in Aug. (got Lazy lol) Got the 6 mon extension like everyone. Filed N-400 as soon as i was eligible in Aug 18.. same drill biometrics bla bla.. had my combo interview on 31st Jan 19. both were approved and updated same day.. interview was very simple like other ppl have mentioned in this. Although my wife was present they only interviewed me. Case status was updated to card being produced but won't have to bother cause yesterday i got an email saying iam scheduled for Oath ceremony in 2 weeks. DONE.

If your i751 case file is also at the local office where your naturalization interview is scheduled than most likely its a combo interview. if your i-751 file is some where else than only the n-400 interview with the tests and all and you will have to wait until the i-751 gets adjudicated. These are separate cases and lot of times they don't even know your i 751 is pending until ur n-400 interview day. I asked my interviewer why so much delay than he said the i-751 cases are not priority. Naturalization cases are. i saw other people in this forum had gotten similar answers.

So filing n-400 seems like the right path if thats your end game so that ur case will get some attention. I was not notified of the combo interview  but you should go with your spouse regardless. I had a combo interview just cause my i751 file had already been transferred to the same office. I did not take any additional documents other than wht was listed on the n-400 interview notice. My EAC no was 18045... but  i think its waste of time cause its all random anyway. probably depends on where and which pile ur file is sitting on. Also I travelled abroad multiple times with the extension letter. Also went on a cruise with the extension letter. never had any problem anywhere. 1000s of ppl travel with this. They know. Good luck!!
