I am sorry if this question is already answered, but I need your advice. I am still waiting for my I-751 approval. I applied in November 2018 and my application is at Nebraska Service center with LIN1990 number. Biometrics done on July 26th. A lot of people with the same timeline have been approved already. I am eligible to apply for Citizenship on 8th of November. I don't want to delay the citizenship process as I want to become a citizen asap, but I am not sure if I should apply when my I-751 application is still pending.

In your experience, how did you see the N400 and I751 application affect the citizenship timelines? If I apply for N400 right away, is it going to further delay my I751 approval? What would be your advice for me to do right now?

Congratulations Peetee! Hearing good news make me feel relieved. When did you file your i751 and n400?

Thank you.

I filed I-751 February 2018 and N-400, February 2019.

I don't thing it will delay your N-400 if you apply now. It might delay the I-751, but you don't really care about it once you file for n-400. Two things could happen if you file for n-400. You might either get your I-751 approved while n-400 is pending or they will just put it on hold and adjust two cases when going for n-400 interview.

What is your local office, check the timeline for n-400.

Local office will be Philadelphia. Where and how can I check the timeline for N400 and I751 combo?

SO there is no timeline for combo. But I just checked and it looks like Philadelphia takes about 8 to 13 months. That means about 8 months after filing for n-400.  Its up to you at this point if you want to file for n-400. I took the chance and boomm they combined the cases. But also what I did when applying for n-400 i uploaded a lot of evidences that were requested at I-751 application and more. So the officer that reviewed my case, I am assuming viewed everything and requested my file to conduct both cases at same time.

in my cases just delayed both of my applications but every case is different, I filed I-751 Feb-2018 and N-400 Jan- 2019, I had no combo interview for my N-400 (Jun -2019) the IO told me that he did not have my I-751 case and he couldn't take a decision on both cases that I will have to wait until he ask for my I-751 and after that he will take a decision for both cases in about two to four weeks  but that never happened, my I751 was approved in Oct-2019 but  Im still stuck with my N-400, at this moment I would have preferred to wait until my I-751 was approved to filed for my citizenship.

good luck .

Hi @smj59.  The low end of the range shows the time it takes to complete 50 percent of cases, and the high end shows the time it takes to complete 93 percent of cases.

I have an interview on Tuesday. I called USCIS to check where is my pending I-751 and was told that it’s not at my local office where the N400 interview will take place but at another service center (there was transfer from SRC to NBC in July). Was anyone in the same situation and still ended up having combo interview? I am assuming I will have N400 only. Seems like the officer won’t be able to do combo interview and/or approve I-751 without having it in hand, right? (Not sure if they possibly have our files online or it it’s all on paper if that makes sense).

I would take a spouse with me, Because that call you made to USCIS, doesn’t prove anything, because they told me it would be a combo, and it wasn’t, and the other day someone posted here the opposite situation. Good luck!

I finally received my N400 approval and a scheduled Oath for November 19th!

- Applied on Jan 2,2019 online, while I751 was pending

- I had n400 interview on May 9th, wasn’t approved, because I 751 was pending.

- Got I751 approved in July 2019 there wasn’t any update about N400 since then.

- I wrote many emails and made many calls, but they never responded and they “broke” the 120 days after the interview law as well.

- I wrote to Congressman and they sent inquiry toward USCIS on Oct 5th

- I also wrote to Senator

- I don’t have information if Congressman or Senator did something about approval

I am endlessly thankful to so many good good GOOD people here on VisaJorney! I wish you speedy processing of all your requests and a happy life!

🇺🇸

PS: I have this urge to call Uscis customer service after I have my passport in my hands and tell them- you never helped me with anything 🤪😂
