Advance Parole question

Hey guys! I've gotten my AP document and I'm planning on visiting my home country soon, which I'm super excited about! I'm looking at tickets and I'm uncertain with one thing:

My flight back from Brazil has a layover in NY before I arrive in L.A. I know that when we come back we go through a secondary inspection so they can check your documents before stamping your Passport or AP document, but does anybody know the average time we spend on that secondary inspection? I'm asking this because I worry the time wouldnt be enough for the layover and I'd miss my flight to L.A. so I'm wondering how much time I should leave for that so I wouldnt have to worry about missing my flight.

These things are always uncertain as evident from other peoples posts. It can be quick in half hour or more than 2 hours depending on the queue or even more depending on the officers there. So i suggest either take a flight to LA straight or take a more than 5 hr halt just to be safe...

Thank you so much! Yeah, the only layover times it was being shown to me were under 2 hours (in 'normal' situations I'd have loved the short time for that layover hahaha), but i was able to find stuff with 4 hours or so! That makes me feel more at ease in case the inspection takes too long =)

 

I wish I could find cheap non-stop flights though =( way too pricey now =,(

I can understand with the prices  4 hours look okay though. You can always tell the people in the queue that you have an onward flight

Thank you T_P! I've been seeing a lot of August filers getting their combo cards already so I'm sure you're gonna get yours too! Good luck to you too and I know you'll see your family really soon!! <3
