I just submitted an expedite request yesterday to the NVC regarding a surgery I will have in January. Does anyone know how long it takes the NVC to approve it and send it to the embassy?

Expedite for a surgery scheduled 2-3 months in advance? Don't be surprised if they don't approve it....

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

If it takes 11 weeks for them to process it then my husband will not be here for my surgery.

I don't think it's considered an expedite. Most likely you won't be approved on this.
