Regarding NVC, we just got a case number and are awaiting the welcome letter. I see timelines with people filling out and sending packages at different times and different dates - dept. of state website says that you have to wait for the agent selection and AOS bill to process before you have access to the other forms - that things are sequential and it takes ~4 months to get through. I see timelines where things look considerably quicker. Am I missing something? Can I submit all the info right away? We're prepared, we've got the documents ready to go, what's our best case scenario here? Anyone have experience getting through NVC mad quick? Shortcuts welcome.

I was looking at the "James" shortcuts on the forum and it looks like they're all set up for paper filing. If your answer is from experience please let me know when you filed and what your situation was.

Thanks guys!

Here's what I did.  I think whether you can do upload, email or mail processing, the sequence won't be much different in terms of getting to the point where you are waiting for your CC/interview date.

1. You can call NVC to see if you can get your case and Invoice numbers before you get the welcome letter from NVC so you can log into the CEAC system.  In my case, I got my case and invoice numbers from the welcome letter.

2. AOS fee was paid and DS261 were filed

3. I called NVC after submitting the DS261 and asked the person on the phone to 'review' the DS261

4. IV fee should become payable after the DS261 is reviewed

5. After IV fee cleared, DS260 was available

6. Sent AOS and IV packages as soon as AOS/IV fee cleared (before filling in DS260)

Process is still quite sequential as one step unlocks the next.  But you can shave a few days off here or there with step 3 and step 6 above being the most impactful.

One other thing, the NVC payment system is very clunky, prone to errors and slow to clear payments.  If you are lucky and don't face these issues, you should be able to get from welcome letter to 'scan date' in 7-10 business days.

Awesome - I submitted my choice of agent already and the guy on the phone said it should be available for phone review around Wednesday. I'm glad things are starting to move after the 6.5 months of no response/nothing to do at USCIS
