How much time have you spent together in person? If you are married, you file a CR1 not a K1. A K1 is for a fiance to come to the US and get married here. A CR1 takes 12-14 months plus.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the process by reading the guides and have a LOT of visits and time together - Ghana is one of the countries that unfortunately it is more difficult to get a visa through.

If you're going to marry before coming to the US on a K-1, then hold off and do the CR-1. Once you marry (anywhere), the K-1 path is gone.

Ghana is considered a high fraud country.  That means your K-1 or CR-1 will get a LOT of scrutiny.  I suggest you do a search here for other cases from Ghana to see what red flags you can prevent.

You will most probably want to have SEVERAL visits before marriage.

Is this your first trip to Ghana? And if so how much time do you intend to stay there? I highly discourage you from getting married on your first trip to Ghana. If you do a quick search of the Ghana portal on this site, you will find many cases of people who got married on the first trip and were denied. Some of them are still fighting to get their partners here years later.

Having gone through the Ghana embassy...once for a K1 and once for a CR1 visa...I encourage you to look through this portal, get a better understanding of what you're up against, and then plan to make multiple trips there--before applying and during the visa process. I made 5 trips in 2.5 years of knowing my hubby...two before our K1 visa was denied, once to get married, one while waiting for the visa and once for the interview. It's expensive. It requires a lot of time off. It's tough being separated from a loved one. But it is necessary to get through the embassy.

Also begin gather evidence now. You need everything and more for this embassy.
