07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

    I don't watch baseball much anymore. I only have the time to watch a couple of innings usually. I'm rooting for Houston. It would make kind of a nice, feel good story after what the city has been through this year. Thinking of some of the teams/players they have had in the past, I was surprised they had never won a world series game before yesterday.  Seems like those early 2000 teams led by Biggio and Bagwell should have won something.

Everyone's above reaction understood.

 

The 2005 team had Biggio & Bagwell on the downslopes of their careers.

Poor Bagwell could barely raise his arm to bat or throw, because his shoulder was so hosed.

 

Even if the current team loses this Series, they should be back rather regularly.

Their hitting should improve at home, if they play Evan Gattis as DH.

Envision all the home runs to be hit in bandbox Minute Maid Park.

Watched till the middle of the 7th last night, went to sleep after. obviously missed the whole action but I must say the ceremonial first pitch with Vin Scully was one of the coolest pregame shows I've watched in any American sports. In case you guys missed it, here is the YouTube link.

I watched every pitch of Game 2.

Was groggy at work on Thursday, but the happiness at the game's outcome made it worth it.

Are you going to Game 3?  I don’t really have a dog in the race, and haven’t been watching pro sports for some time, but I suppose I wouldn’t mind seeing the Astros win since they have never won the WS before.  I still have a hard time remembering Houston is now an AL team.

Brad Peacock gets first major-league save in 5-3 win.

 

Such different managerial styles -- Roberts "micro," Hinch trusting his guys.

Roberts reminds me a little of Jimy* Williams when Jimy* managed the Astros -- very irritating treatment of pitchers.
