Affidavit of Support and Divorce

I will be divorcing my wife who I have sponsored. I signed an affidavit of support and my father was a co-sponsor. My wife does not work, and my lawyer feels that some spousal support is unavoidable for at least some period of time, probably a year max. However my father is very concerned about the affidavit of support. In reality, what kind of trouble can we expect down the road? I know that my wife wouldn't qualify for income based services like food stamps (unless she didn't list mine and my father's income when applying) and if she did, then the government could sue us to get the money back. But are there other issues? Like if she is uninsured and goes to the hospital? Can't pay her rent? Racks up credit card debt?

Thanks

After the divorce any new debt is not your problem. That said she wont be listing your or your fathers income when she does go for public assistance because you will be divorced...
