Applicants spend $680 on the i751, then additional $640 for n400.. and still don't end up with a green card once called for Naturalization interview.  What a scam!

I agree on this, the 10 year green card would be useless once you're eligible for naturalization since you will turn over the said card to them during your oath taking given they sent you the card, but if not then its totally waste of money but we're not getting better service from them by not having a reliable tracking system for all the mail correspondents that they sent to us. During my AOS i'm always getting update on my case online each time they made progress on my application, but for ROC seems like that's not the case. So we really have to monitor our case by calling them specially if our case is beyond processing timeline and reaches for a year from the date of our NOA1.

Hey congratulations!

So the N-400 interview you sat for is the same as the American Civics/History test, where they ask about 16 questions to test your knowledge of the U.S.?

Yes, It's only 6 questions actually. You can read my N400 interview experience on the link in my signature.

What i meant was that for your N400 to be processed, you have to go through an I751 Interview without even getting an RFE? Straight up Interview, even if you had a massive amount of evidence.

That seems to be the case. However it depends on how far ahead USCIS is processing the I 751. In July 2017 N 400 forum, there is a petitioner filing N400 with pending I751 (think she filed on June or July 2016). Her 751 was approved before the N400 interview. Hence, she only had N400 interview.

Well my main goal is always the citizenship and I know I had to pay for both 751 and N400. It's just the backlog in CSC that I didnt get the 10 years GC before filing my citizenship. I just hope my immigration process will be over soon.

Indeed, although it is $725 for the  n-400, as you have to pay a biometrics fee again.

Think yourself lucky you haven't had to pay for two I-751s...

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks).
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE...
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time.
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case.
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied]

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) ....

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi Everyone!!!! I had a combined N 400 and I 751 interview today in Dallas Office.

I posted my interview experience here for those who contemplate filing N400 while I 751 pending or if you have already filed N400 while your I 751 was pending..

My husband and I arrived early at the Dallas FO. Within 5 mins, an officer called my name. I asked her if it will be just me and she responded both of us. She mentioned that she is glad we came early because she came early hoping we would be there! In her office, I can see lots of stacks with labels N400 and I751 ( guess a lot of people have done the same thing I did ). She explained that I will have 2 interview. She will do the I751 interview and then another officer will conduct the N400. She asked for both our IDs.

Questions for my I751 : how long we have been married, how we met, where we work, when we purchased house together, did we have kids, have we lived separately longer than 2 weeks. That's it. I asked if she will need anything else. She said "I don't". Then she said I will not receive my 10 years GC if I pass the N400 test. So during the oath ceremony, I just have to hand over the 2 years GC. The interview lasted for 10 mins tops.

Then I did my N400 interview and passed. If you want to read details of my N400 interview, please visit N400 July 2017 Forum. My status in egov.uscis.do/casestatus now said I am in line for the oath ceremony. However my I 751 still said my case was received.

At this point, I know a lot of people are saying that filing N 400 will delay your I 751. I guess it just depends on when you filed the I 751 and where you file your N400. In my case, I filed I751 in Sep 2016 CSC. If I had not filed N400, most likely I would still wait for my I 751 until next year. Since my main goal is citizenship, I would say that filing N 400 has helped expediting my I 751. Again, this is my personal experience so I can't say the same for your cases.

Good luck to you all!!!!

thanks so much for sharing. my i 175 is still pending and i filed for n400. i have my finger print for my n400 next week. if i may ask. was it compulsory to have went there with your husband or you just went there with her just incase ? or they actually sent a letter asking both of you to come. ?? thanks

Thanks for sharing! My husband also filed for N-400 in August with a pending I-751 so it's interesting to hear about that process. I wonder what we're meant to do if the I-751 process was taking so long we had to get an I-551 stamp in his passport and at that time they already took his 2-year green card away? I'm guessing you just don't need to turn anything in at the oath then.

I hope we hear soon since we're also CSC filers, but not online so it seems to be slower going.

Agreed, something is messed up with a system/process to have to redo the entire process for no other reason than missed mail. You'd think USCIS could come up with Priority Mail/tracking system for appointment notifications.

Again, from all indications for those who really want to get citizenship, it seems the best option is to file for N400 immediately the window opens if you have a pending I751. Since CSC filers have a wait time of about 14 months for I751, what's the worst that could happen with a pending I751? you're correct, an Interview. And that's what would happen with concurrent applications anyway but then you save yourself the headache of dealing with RFEs and increased anxiety because consciously or unconsciously, the thought that you have your N400 in the works, gives a bit relaxed feeling.

You're closer to the finish line the moment you send out your N400 application. You get your interview notices, get both interviews sorted, and that's it! you're done with USCIS.

For combo interview with your i-751 and n-400 then your husband needs to be with you but if they already approved your i-751 and if the interview is for n-400 then you dont need your husband to be with you. There's instructions on the letter once you received in and make sure you follow the instructions before going to the interview.

Yes, It's only 6 questions actually. You can read my N400 interview experience on the link in my signature.

So it does happen, but very rarely that you still could be 751 approved with 400 pending. Do you know the name of the petitioner or a link to her story? Thanks.

They didnt take my GC away when I got my I 551 stamp. However, don't be worried. In any case, the stamp also works as GC replacement. When you need to get the next stamp, just bring the copy of your GC, i797, and your passport. All they need is just the official docs that have your application #.

if i may ask. was it compulsory to have went there with your husband or you just went there with her just incase ? or they actually sent a letter asking both of you to come. ?? thanks

They never sent me any letter related to I 751. I only received N400 interview letter. I brought my husband because based on what people said in the forum, most likely we will have combo I 751 and N 400. And I was right to bring him :jest:.
