I think we have already been down that road in the early 90s when the rapist in chief was occupying the WH.  But to the OP, I am sure if this were reversed and it was found that the Trump team had hired an agent that sourced and paid for a hit piece dossier against Hillary using Russian sources, the impeachment hearings would be scheduled with the claims of Russian collusion.  However, since this is the DNC, and these actions are expected of them, it is labeled opposition research instead of collusion.  I love the MDL hypocrisy.

Collusion would be illegal cooperation and conspiracy. In this case it would be with a foreign government.

 

To my knowledge it is not illegal to hire an private investigative firm to investigate someone. You aren't "colluding" with that group if it is a legal relationship.

 

I admit though I don't know much about campaign politics and investigations. If it is illegal to do so, then yes she colluded. It is my understanding though that it is not. It's bad that she denied it for so long, but I don't believe it was illegal. Again I could be wrong.

It is illegal (felony) for a politician, political campaign, or political party to pay a foreign national for anything relative to a political campaign.  Covering up the illegal payments by diverting them through secondary channels (attorney/law firm), so the payments wouldn't be listed on FEC campaign finance disclosure forms, is an additional crime (felony) - possibly multiple different crimes just for that aspect.

So in that respect Hillary colluded with the "British", not with Russia. Correct? The former spy is a British National.

I don't think we know the answer to that question yet.  If the money stopped flowing when it got to the British national, then yes she only colluded with the a British foreign national, but that would still be illegal.  Did the money stop at the former British spy or did it continue to flow to the Russians who gave him some of the information?  Who knew and when did they know where the money was going?  I'm sure we'll eventually learn the details, but either way, someone appears to have committed several crimes.
