@Azra zahid @Munazza Hope you're doing well. Can you please respond and tell why you needed to submit a joint sponsor? Was the petitioners income not over 125% of the poverty guidelines? Or did the interviewing officer took other factors into determination of a co-sponsor's requirement?  Anyone else, please share your experience too on the subject, any help is appreciated. Thanks! Kiran

They can ask you anything you never know sometimes.. We three sisters have totally different experiences.. You must read about me and my son, s case.. One of my sister who had her interview after us both was asked joint sponsor too and given 221g.. Ticked with b section in which written I guess that no visa or other documents shall be issued like this I don't remember exactly.. And also ticked with both joint sponsor sections.. Right. She didn't submit any joint sponsor again but her visa got issued after four months of interview.. Quite a strange thing.. And my other sister whose interview was just after a week after mine didn't get any 221g nor ds5535 was told by the VO that all of your papers are just fine congrats you will get your visa in next week. At the third day of interview she got email to submit new joint sponsor due to insufficient income.. She could arrange a new one in a six months time after submitting she got email to redo medical and got issued just after.. So you can't expect and calculate the things by yourself what you gonna face at the interview and after.. One of my friend interviewed at July 2017 and told by the VO that she got the visa even she saw issued on ceas but she got ds5535 horrible email and her status went to Ap from Issued and now she got visa this month and her passport had that visa on it canceled.. Whaataaaa process..

Thank you so much @Munazza.. So 1 more question, the petitioner (say a husband filing for his wife and has no other dependants in USA) and making well over the poverty guidelines, can still be asked to arrange a co-sponsor right? totally up to the officer's discretion and mercy?

You welcome... Well technically I don't have much knowledge about this jont sponsor calculation but 90% it's up to the VO,s mood unfortunately..

Yes you can see and calculate the amouyfor 125 percent poverty line. It is given on web i needed 47700$ from my sponsors both had 54000$ and 52000$ in their papers. According to poverty guide line we don’t need co sponsors but CO asked.

The public charge issue is not just a number on paper, but the totality of the circumstances.
