What a show ! Hahaha

I'm guessing you got tired waiting for SSA to send you the replacement SS card?

Would you mind sharing the process? Such as paperwork completed and documentation you brought in? Did they shred your old SS card?

It has been over a month for me and never got anyhing. I got approval 12/21 but nothing came so tier 2 officer told me to just visit an office an apply in perso

I brought my passport, ead card and copy of my i94. But i also brought extra docs like the approval notices and birth certificate just in case. It was straightforward

I have to update my social security card too. The one I have right now is the limited one from my J1 visas.

But I might do it with my green card in case they are not familiar with the EAD. It's not really a big deal anyways.

I'm going home in about 3 weeks and will be there for 5 weeks total. Hope it won't be a problem on the way back.

Then after that I'm starting work at my old place. Already looking forward to the busy summer!

Hi guys,

Just an update. I had my interview earlier today and it went well. We only waited 10 minutes before we got called in. The officer recommended us for approval.  We were asked about the history of our relationship (how we met, when did we decide to get married, etc.),  personal information, (age, bday, address, names, wedding date,), and asked for more photos and that was it for the interview. We were at the interview room for an hour, because the officer and my husband ended up talking about basketball.  (Let's GO WARRIORS!)

Anyways, the whole process was pretty painless. Thank goodness!

Now, the waiting game begins for the Green Card. :)

I just had my interview this morning at San Jose. Honestly it was quite depressing and totally different to janicecf's experience.

The officer assigned to my case admitted he hadn't done I-485s for years, mostly doing N-400s. He was filling in because the person supposed to be handling my case was off sick. Our interview went fine, most of the time was spent going through the checkboxes on the I-485 again and we weren't asked any difficult questions. Only the original drivers license, passport, birth certificates and house deeds were asked to be seen.

However even though I think we had a very strong case, and he didn't ask for more documentation, he said some strange things. For example, that not having children 'weakens your case'. We've been married for less than four months.

We were given a form that our case required "Further Review". I asked him when he might get around to it and he said "not today, maybe tomorrow". Wow. USCIS processing roulette. Hoping for the best..

I expect he will be doing this with all of the interviews he handled. Probably just handing it back to the original Officer when they get back from sick leave, I wouldnt think that it is anything to worry about.

No. I asked him that, and the interviewing officer must be the one to finish the paperwork and provide approval or RFE/denial. It cannot be transferred.

At least you got an interview! As long as your marriage is real, I do not think it will be a problem to get an approval, just might take a bit longer to get the card (i.e. XXX days after interview). Finger crossed for you.

Admittedly having kids is a bonus for green card interview. However my spouse and I have decided on not having any, and definitely will not do that simply for the sake of passing the interview...if that is your choice, don't be afraid. You have the right to choose the life-style you want.

Congrats on conquering the interview! Were you asked to confirm your own birthday or was the interviewer more interested in testing how much you know your husband?

That's an annoying comment.  . But, maybe he just want to see your body language or maybe he didn't study your case enough to learn you were only married 4 months ago.

Thank you. I was asked about my own birthday and yes the officer was testing the both of us on how much we know each other. Which was not a problem, we've known each other for 18 yrs and dated for 5 years before getting married so yeah.:D

I agree about the "kids" comment. Like you can just go the store and buy "kids." I would be so annoyed and pissed off actually.
