So happy for October filers' updates here, congrats to all who received EAD and interview dates!

My PD for EAD/AP is 09/28/2017 and I just received the approval notice of i-765 (EAD) today, said the approval happened on 01/08/2018.

It should be a direct result of my attorney's service inquiry, although the status of that inquiry was still 'not assigned for processing'

Also, no status change for AP (i-131). I thought those two are supposed to be bundled together?

09/28/2017: Package delivered to USCIS

10/05/2017: SMS/Email Confirmation at 11:34pm CST

10/10/2017: 4 NOA's received in Mail

10/16/2017: Received biometrics appointment letter

Don't rely on the online statuses too much, especially for AP as it seems to be an afterthought for them. If you got the EAD, you most likely got the AP as well. Double-check your NOA2.

San Jose / Santa Clara has a reported 11 month backlog, yet two of us allocated there got an interview in less than five. It's very encouraging news for other filers.

I am actually abandoning all hope "for now" in regards to my EAD/AP approval. :D

I woke up to 4 texts from USCIS today. That's the first time I have gotten text updates since the NOA1s.

They were all for the I-765 and on the website it says "Card was mailed to me" dated January 4th.

 

I'm obviously very happy but my interview is in 10 days. Do I have to take the card back to them? What if it doesn't get here in time?

05/24/2017 Entered the US on a J1 visa

10/10/2017 We got married!

You would want to hold onto the combo card. You don't know what will happen in your interview; some people don't get approved immediately and there can be weeks or months of delay after your interview before the card is mailed. While that decision is pending, you can work using the EAD.

 

Form I-9 requires you to be in physical possession of either your EAD (Form I-765) or Green Card (Form I-551) when completing it, it is also required to keep the cards on you at all times.
