:help: Hello all.

My fiance came to America for a holiday and we decided to get married in a small chapel near us on holiday. We did not want to say good bye again etc etc

so my question is NOW WHAT??

I am so lost on what papers I need to file asap to keep him here with me. I am nervous beyond belief as I have downloaded hundreds of pages of paperwork etc.. Can anyone tell me my first few steps or guide me in a better direction.

Much thanks!!!!!!!!!

I believe you should contact the USCIS, and they should be able to direct you. You may even be able to go to the local immigration office. Good Luck! Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Ok. To help sort you out... You have two choices:

1. Your significant other can go home and you can file a K-3 petition on their behalf. This is the safest and best option but does require you to be separated.

2. You can file for adjustment of status. Now, this is not without its risks. Why? It is considered immigration fraud to come to the US with the intent to get married and stay here. The burdern is on YOU (and your significant other) to prove this was not your intent when they entered the country. This carries SERIOUS consquences if they find you did commit fraud. Now, that being said you will find many examples of people marrying and adjusting status on this board with no problem.

I would recommend you do some serious reading, consult an immigration attorney and weigh your options carefully.

Nothing I say is legal advice. I recommend you consult a qualified immigration attorney for any questions you may have.

Ok. Based on the above quote I read your previous postings... what happened to your K-1? Or did your SO manage to get a work visa?

Nothing I say is legal advice. I recommend you consult a qualified immigration attorney for any questions you may have.
