USCIS' Form Filing Tips page here suggests placing the check on top.

Just curious.. We had our 2-pg cover sheet, where on the 2nd page we mentioned the check and i-751 form is under Exhibit A tab. Not knowing how Service Centers operate, would they "see" the check and form? I attached a picture below of the package we sent, we attached the check with a paper clip to the i-751 form. Paper clip is the black dot on the left. What do you think?

When I sent mine, I put the letter, table of contents, form i-751, front and back photocopy of my green card and check on top of the file using the clear folder sleeve so they can easily see immediately, those are the items that they need to see first when opening the packet

I don't think the form, check and cover letter/TOC fall under "exhibits". In my understanding, exhibits are demonstrations/proofs that you are qualified for this benefit you're applying for by way of form 751. I would follow filing guidelines from USCIS to the letter.

I haven't filed 751 yet but when I filed my AOS package, the cover letter/TOC was on top, followed by the check on top of the form.

If you've already filed, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless they return the entire package to you and ask you to refile -then you know what to fix. But they may be smarter than given credit for and just cash your check.

Ahh ok, I see (and now agree) the form and check are not exhibits. Wasnt thinking when we mailed the pkg.

Well it's all mailed, got there on the 18th. Hoping they will locate the Form+Check. I'll keep checking if they cash the check.

Wondering if USCIS staff are supposed to open original submission packages by a certain time once they arrive at VSC

Anyone here know of the inner workings/MO at service centers?

I listed a check as one of the exhibits, numbered and all. It was under the cover sheet on top of the form.

Then on the very front of the cover sheet/TOC I put a "Post IT" note that said "payment check is under this cover letter and TOC, on top of the application" :) In case they get lost.
