Hello Everyone ,

I am a freshly graduated Med Student from Syria and Currently in Syria , I haven't traveled much outside Syria except for once , when I did my one month training in the AUB in Beirut , Lebenon .

The visa status is really desperate for Syrians and for me as well .

I've always wanted to go to the united states , get a proper education , and get back to my country after that .

I've been studying for the Medical Licensing Exam for so long , and it took alot of my time and energy , and it's a bit expensive but I accepted all of that because it's my dream to go there and get a US medical experience .

I won't write about what i sacrificed or what i did to stay on this track , but what hurts the most , is I probably will be forced to give up this dream because of being Syrian .

I never liked applying to the diversity Visa and I never thought I will , but this month I got so desperate that I had applied and now I'm freaking out about it because I'm reading about people who got rejected because of that ...

I need any advice that I can get in order to get a non-immigrant visa  , again I'm 100% that I just wanna go to the US to get the education and get back ..

If anyone knows how can someone like me get a visa please tell me

Thanks in advance

Nothing's wrong with applying for DV and not being selected.

If you want to study in the US, then you can apply for a student visa. You will need to show ties to return home plus sufficient means to pay for the (crazy expensive) tuition in the US since public aid is not available.

That said, I think it would sound kinda odd to want to study in the US in the medical field (and get a license) and then show that you intend to return home after graduation, where your skills and education may not be in sync with the local processes and licensing. Then again, I don't know the local licensing process in Syria, but this is something to keep in mind as the CO will probably wonder the same thing.

student Visa is for is for Universities and Colleges , and the cost is really way higher than my budget ,

Ill tell the CO that I've stayed in Syria during the War for the last 6 years until it finally ended last december , and I'm not running away to stay in a country where I'll have to get stuck there because once I leave i may not get back ,
my family and friends and loved ones are not in the US

I want to be fully armed with the US clincal experience and degree in order to be able to get back here and make a name for me here in the lack of great doctors that occurred recently

I never thought about getting married and staying there to be honest  , so what are my options?

not anymore since the Judge in hawaii blocked president trump's latest ban

If you can't afford the student visa then you only have 2 options. 1. Dv lottery. 2. Work visa. But you have to find an US employer and pass a lot of requirements. Only then the employers can sponsor you. That's it

Actually I can apply for a J-1 , if i get a Research position in a Medical Center , but I have friends who got their J-1 Rejected

What are my chances with J-1 ?

And What can i do to help the CO in the process of vetting me , I can give him all my accounts with passwords on my social media websites , or get  a police clearance from here that I don't have any criminal record, etc ..

Any ideas ?

Maybe you can get a scholarship? Still have to apply for student visa though, but that might help you cover the costs?

Also, isn't Syria on the travel ban list?

There are scholarships , but not for medical education as far as I know ..

and not anymore ,the judge in Hawaii blocked the ban again

Possible...although most aren't available to non-resident aliens.

All 3 travel bans have been stayed by court orders (at least in the parts that affect the OP). This may change in the future, but the latest ban was stayed by 2 different judges before it went active.

Do you now why your friends got rejected?

Usually its because people can't show strong ties with home country, which i can imagine is more complicated now with situation in Syria.

For a student visa they do the police clearance in home country, you don't need to provide that.

What strong ties do you have? Financially  , job perspectives etc.

That's positive , at least he doesn't need to deal with that for now.
