Hello everyone

Just starting the K1 Visa process for my finance. I’m very nervous and kind of stressed out as everything seems overwhelming. I just have a couple questions and worries that I hope can be put to rest with some answers.

I am a u.s citizen by naturalization

Me and my fiancé have been talking for about 4 months now and I just recently got back from my trip to go see her

On this trip we decided to get engaged and I bought a ring and everything

I currently am in school and get income from unemployment until my schooling is done (July 2018)

my question is when it comes to income as far as assets go do they want to see 3 times the minimum or 5 times the minimum income?

Also on the I-129f the first question asks for alien number since I am now a citizen do I need to enter my old alien number I once had when I had a green card or since I am now a citizen I no longer have to enter the alien number?

Any help is appreciated .

If you have an alien number, be sure to use it on the form. I'm a naturalized citizen and so when I was filing, I made sure to write the alien number I was assigned. If you're the sole sponsor, you're required to demonstrate that your income is at least 125% of the current federal poverty guideline of your household size. I believe that unemployment income is considered means-tested. It's looking like you may need a CO-sponsor.

Yes, I copied my passport and naturalization certificate just to be on the safe size.

I see thanks

If the co sponsor is valid and meets requirements have people noticed issues with getting approved because of cosponsor or does it really not matter as long as there is a valid cosponsor?

Unemployment is paid through UC insurance, which is something you pay into. It's not considered a means tested benefit.

UC can be included in your income, although how they consider it to address the public charge concern is up to the CO. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/can-i-count-unemployment-checks-toward-income-i-864-purposes.html

5x for a fiance. It's 3x for a spouse or child (under 21), and 5x for all others.

When filling out application for everything that didn’t apply did you put none or n/a or did you just leave it blank for example I don’t have a middle name would I put none or leave it blank?

Both my wife and I have a middle name so we filled those in. :P But I would have left that blank if there was none. Normally I don't suggest leaving something blank, but for something like a name, I would be more afraid of some office clerk putting it into the system with "None" or "N/A" than a human being wondering if it was missed but the other names filed in.

We used N/A as appropriate. That said we filled out the form entirely electronically via Adobe Reader DC, and since it's a 2D-barcoded form, all the data is in the generated barcode. Many options that didn't apply to us became disabled so we couldn't put in "N/A" anyway. If i were to fill it out by hand instead, I would have written "N/A" instead.

I’m getting mixed answers

I am a naturalized citizen and have been one for over 8 years now

when I fill out the i129f do I or dont I have to enter in an alien number

i may have once had one when I had my green card but no longer have it since I am now a citizen

Ah...I got a bit mixed up between threads. My above answer was for another form, which was 2D-barcoded. All the forms for the K-1 visa are not 2D-barcoded at this time. So you can always write in N/A as needed. I still wouldn't do it on the middle name section if there is none, but otherwise the fields should be filled in. Sorry for the confusion!

If you have it available, provide it. However, it shouldn't really matter since you're a USC now.
