The fact that so much delay has occurred, is that going to be too much of a bad sign to them? So if I have a cosponsor it'll be a huge help?

You're not getting any further until you can get a support affidavit for her.

If the application is at the consulate stage already, you need to postpone the interview until you (1) fix your tax returns (2) get a job (because you will need ~1,500 for her AOS as soon as you guys marry; otherwise, she won't be able to have an ID, work, health insurance, and eventually get the green card) (3) find a co-sponsor

If I get a cosponsor shortly and get another job shortly then we'll both be living here in USA in an apartment at first. Me and my fiancee agreed to have a smaller wedding with my relatives being the guests since her family can't make it over here to attend.

They don't care about what job you currently have, you need to Show PAST years tax returns, if you don't meet the income requirements then yes you need a co-sponsor, and they still don't care about your current state of jobs. Once your future wife is here and you start the AOS then you will need to show even more income because the AOS status requires 125% of poverty level. Maybe just put it on hold and get a new job.  We all make mistakes in quieting a job or what ever, just try to learn from them and don't do it again. I've had my share of jobs I quit but was never a problem down the road.

The edit button seems to have disappeared, or I cant find it. I meant what if by the time of the interview I haven't worked long enough to do a tax return by that time?

If you don't have a co-sponsor who meets the income requirements and you can't show you meet theyincome requirement then it won't get approved. You need to prove that you can support your future wife.

I've never made enough or worked in past jobs long enough to have a tax return. Might seem a little strange but true.

How do you plan on supporting your wife/family? I'm guessing you are pretty young then, well it doesn't hurt to start off together making ends meet, but the government wants to know that you can actually care for your immigrant wife, so this is your current predicament.

What I mean is, if I get job where I make enough for the income requirements, but don't have any tax returns to show, what then...?

You will have to wait until you have enough verified income if you don't have a co-sponsor to show the income levels. Did you find a co-sponsor?

I'm still working on the cosponsor part. I've heard of some people who, if they didn't have tax return they got letter from employer showing they're a full time worker and permanent employee and showing how much their salary and projected annual income is. Would that work?

That's 100 percent incorrect! The CURRENT job is what they care about the most! I didn't make enough the last year because I was overseas with my wife. I make more than enough now and I had no issues. Now you do want to be at that job for a couple months probably, just to show you've consistently been there. Also, a job letter from the employer helps.

Jakarta is a tough embassy - relatively speaking.  Your lack of attentive follow up on this case I suspect has already flagged you.

So did she do the medical and get the police certificate or not?  If so - it will have to be re-done.

Say what? Jakarta is a tough embassy? According to who and what? It's pretty easy, B1/B2 excepted. My now-wife had a very easy time, as did the others who interviewed the same day as her. The reviews on VJ also indicate that's the norm and not the exception...

And a police certificate is not required in Indonesia due to police corruption.

Yes, it would. And your petition can be extended up to a year. I speak from experience (although we only had ours extended for 4 months).

Jakarta is a pretty laidback embassy. Just find a job that pays you enough $ and/or find a co-sponsor and you should be good to go. The bigger challenge might be AOS, since they want more documentation at that stage.

And please, for the sake of your future wife, try to keep a steady job. Moving to the US can be a stressful experience, and having $ problems could just exacerbate the situation.
